Oy vey. Now that's a major mistake, especially considering Reagan's iconic status within the Republican party. I have a feeling she thought Reagan went to school in California because he was governor of that state before becoming president.

How absurd. Democrats would love her to run. It almost guarantees them a Dem win. McCain's choice in running mates did him far more harm than help.

Chances are that a Republican will get elected to the presidency after Obama's first (or possibly second) term in office. It's common for a member of the opposite party to get elected, although that's not always the case.

However... if Palin is still interested in running by that time, she'll definitely hurt or even destroy a Republican win. I'd like to think the GOP is smarter than that, but they let McCain choose her as his running mate, so who knows?

Even if Palin didn't run on the Republican ticket, she could still try as an independent. She won't win (no independent has ever won the presidency), but she could conceivably take enough votes away from the Republican candidate that a Democratic win would be almost as assured as if she were officially running as a Republican.

Something tells me she cares more about herself than about the republican party, so as long as she can use the republican party as a personal marketing tool, she will, even if it means her causing republican defeat in the next election.
