Re: Sierra Games: Where Do I Belong?
It wasn't published by Sierra, but it WAS developed by a "Sierra-family" company. Even more ironic is just WHO the publisher actually is.

Re: Sierra Games: Where Do I Belong?
I've scoured the internet for some info about games developed by Dynamix or Coktel Vision and published by strange companies (LA, Activision, EA), but I found nothing. However, your hint suggested me something!

Re: Sierra Games: Where Do I Belong?
Nothing LucasArts related.
Okay, here are four hints:
1. This game was made in the late 1980s.
2. It's a 3D combat simulation
3. There have been three sequels, a few expansion packs, two semi-related games and even two RTS titles.
4. This game is from a VERY well-known sci-fi series that's spawned multiple books, tabletop games and video games.
Here's a larger screen shot as well.

Re: Sierra Games: Where Do I Belong?
If I'm allowed, I'd like to make two guesses, which I already know are wrong: Skyfox II: The Cygnus Conflict and Deathtrack, both developed by Dynamix and published by other publishers than Sierra. Both action titles with sci-fi setting, released around the period you mentioned.

I went to Mobygames too, browsed all Dynamix games, saw Mechwarrior, thought isn't that a Microsoft game, checked the screenshots and saw this:

Dot got it!
Various Mechwarrior games have been published by several companies, including Activision, Hasbro Interactive and Microsoft. The very first MW on the PC was developed by Dynamix and published by Activision.
Dynamix lost the license to make more MW games and therefore created the Metal Tech universe, which consists of Battledrome, both Earthsiege games, Starsiege and the all three Tribes games. Oddly enough, Stellar 7, Nova 9, Hunter Hunted and Rise of the Dragon were all retconned into the Metal Tech universe later on.
Here's the screen shot I used:

That was a tough one DPX.

Re: Sierra Games: Where Do I Belong?
I have never heard of anyone trying to include RotD with the MetalTech/Starsiege universe. The Cyberstorms are usually included. CyberGladiators, Arctic Fox and the Skyfox games are sometimes included. I think that some of these are sometimes mentioned just because of their similarities and Dynamix.DeadPoolX wrote:the Metal Tech universe, which consists of Battledrome, both Earthsiege games, Starsiege and the all three Tribes games. Re: Sierra Games: Where Do I Belong?
Good call about the Cyberstorm games, Arctic Fox and both Skyfox games, as well. I've never heard Cyber Gladiators included, but that doesn't mean it's not part of the overall series.Collector wrote:I have never heard of anyone trying to include RotD with the MetalTech/Starsiege universe. I think the connection some make with RotD is due to the Hunter surname. Jake Hunter is the hero of Hunter Hunted and William "Blade" Hunter is the hero of RotD. Jake Hunter is also mentioned -- and sometimes revered -- in Starsiege.
I'll admit the entire idea seems tenuous at best, but considering all of those games were made by Dynamix, there could be some truth to it. It's certainly no stranger than some of the other games included.

If this is considered as a Sierra game, then my next screenshot is going to kill this thread.DeadPoolX wrote:Various Mechwarrior games have been published by several companies, including Activision, Hasbro Interactive and Microsoft. Re: Sierra Games: Where Do I Belong?
Yeah well, sorry if I sounded harsh, but it has literally nothing to do with Sierra. Dynamix does, the game doesn't. Sierra never re-released it, or owned the Mechwarrior IP.AndreaDraco wrote:Rudy wrote:If this is considered as a Sierra game, then my next screenshot is going to kill this thread.
