I will always be partial to villains that use magic over werewolves as being "the baddest of the bad." I mean, yes the Black Wolf was a very well defined character, but Mordak captured an entire family - an entire castle! - for that matter.AndreaDraco wrote:Disclaimer: the following is totally non-confrontational. I seriously think that the Black Wolf is easily the best character ever written in a Sierra adventure game, perhaps even more than Gabriel himself. I would really like to know why so many people prefer Mordack over him.

Re: Best Sierra Villain Tournament! Tier #2
That's the very thing that often ticks me off about these tournaments. The votes tallied are usually the result of "who's more popular." Let's be honest, some of these match-ups simply don't make sense and even if they did, there are some characters who'd kick the crap out of the others.Tawmis wrote:I will always be partial to villains that use magic over werewolves as being "the baddest of the bad." I suppose that's the problem with having different characters from different games and genres fighting each other. There's no way to equally match them up.

Re: Best Sierra Villain Tournament! Tier #2
Popularity voting is the only way to make things equal in this case. Since we don't know who's played which games, and how people can change the way they vote, the outcome is a little more unpredictable. If the contest was "who would win in a fight," we'd all know the winner before it starts (whoever has the most tanks, of course!) Even I've been surprised at a few of the votes already and I'm curious to know how it ends. I always thought it would come down to Sludge Vohaul and the Black Wolf, but now I'm wondering if I should expect any twists.DeadPoolX wrote:That's the very thing that often ticks me off about these tournaments. What's interesting is that if this same contest was run on a major gaming site, G Man would come out on top - no question. But here, it looks like he's getting creamed by a guy in a cage, whom I threw in as a joke. I am finding this incredibly awesome

Re: Best Sierra Villain Tournament! Tier #2
Er... what does popularity have to do with it? I honestly think that the Black Wolf was a very well fleshed out character... but if I am going to sit back and think who is more sinister and evil... a werewolf... or an evil magician who can teleport an entire castle away... I think the magician is going to do more damage here than the werewolf. (And honestly it's all for fun!)DeadPoolX wrote:That's the very thing that often ticks me off about these tournaments. I agree that popularity is the only viable way of conducting a tournament like this, especially when mixing games and genres. However, I think perhaps certain criteria should be mentioned or used.Datadog wrote:Popularity voting is the only way to make things equal in this case. How about voting "which character is the best detective" or "which character is the biggest goofball" or whatever. That'd place the scenario, whereas right now, who knows if we're talking about a fight or some other contest.

We can easily say “What has brute force got to do with it?” as well. That’s why Datadog concluded that voting is the best way to get an even representation of who we think “the best” villain is as a whole. Each of us may have our own definition of “the best”, whether it’s based on physical strength or disposition and character portrayal.DeadPoolX wrote:Er... what does popularity have to do with it?
I, for one, believe the Black Wolf is “the best” out of all! Mwua ha haaa.

Re: Best Sierra Villain Tournament! Tier #2
I've been voting who the most evil villain is from my point of view. I had to vote out WD-40 (even though she's Space Quest) for another villain because of this. So I'm kind of voting against my nature here . Though, I'm surprised the GMan is losing apparently.

Oh whoops. Sorry, DPX. Too many quotes and sub quotes to edit.
Re: Best Sierra Villain Tournament! Tier #2
After re-reading this page again, my post has me even more confused. Originally I thought DPX was talking about which villian is stronger and Tawm was talking about who commited the most heinous deeds. And me, I don't know what I was talking about.
Can we simply forget that I posted anything on this page? All those gun tags are boggling my mind!
Shame on me for speed reading at work while dodging my boss's micromanagement eyes.

The Commander pukes on Slaughter and adds him to his army!
5. The Dijon Plantation Killer (5) vs. Lolotte (6)
Lolotte sends the Killer out to find a unicorn, and the killer gets swallowed by a whale!
6. Ad Avis (10) vs. Mr. Bigg (1)
Ad Avis casts the epic Dragon Fire spell on Mr. Bigg and wins by overkill!
7. Hagatha (2) vs. Arnoid (9)
Arnoid is going to pump up Hagatha... WITH HIS FIST!
8. Flesh Eater (1) vs. Voodoo Leader (10)
The Voodoo Leader leaves Flesh Eater in a bloody mess on someone's floor.
9. The Death Angel (10) vs. WD-40 (1)
The Death Angel kidnaps WD-40's head.
10. Lycentia (2) vs. Abdul Alhazared (9)
Abdul Alhazard steals Dreep's rubber ducky and tells him Lycentia took it.
11. The Leyendecker Museum Killer (8) vs. Prometheus (3)
The killer stabs the great Prometheus to death... somehow! It was pretty amazing to watch.
12. Mordack (5) vs . The Black Wolf (6)
The Black Wolf transforms into a wolf! Mordack accidentally transforms into a rabbit!
13. G Man (4) vs. The Arabian Stallion, Al Scurva! (7)
