What are you playing now?
Re: What are you playing now?
Well, started out on horde ages ago, but switched over to alliance when we couldn't find any groups to do stuff with.
Server is Scarlet Crusade...the horde to alliance ratio is pretty bad, hence why it was hard to find horde groups.

Re: What are you playing now?
I tried WoW, but I didn't care for it. It's not a bad game, but it felt too much like every other MMO (especially EverQuest) to me. I also disliked the monthly fee, which meant if I didn't play as often as I could, I'd just be burning money.
Maia and I tend to prefer Guild Wars, since it's a more "casual" MMO without a steep learning curve or much in the way of time commitment. Even better, there's no fee at all. You simply pay for the actual game and that's it.

Well, I never played EverQuest, so I had nothing to compare it with.

It's _alot_ like EverQuest... but made much, much, much easier than EverQuest ever was (especially the death and not losing XP... and thus needing a Cleric to do a 98% XP rez... really killed the game at times).
Wrath is going to be a lot like the (EQ's) Velious expansion from everything I have seen. But still looking forward to it.

Re: What are you playing now?
That's not even the half of it! I remember playing EQ long before a compass and map were included. So if and when you got killed, there was virtually no way to find your body unless you remembered the exact location where you died. If you accidentally fell down a chasm, you were SOL.Tawmis wrote:It's _alot_ like EverQuest... but made much, much, much easier than EverQuest ever was (especially the death and not losing XP... and thus needing a Cleric to do a 98% XP rez... really killed the game at times).

Re: What are you playing now?
I'm with you. I remember going to Alakazam (sp?) for maps... And EQ is ... bigger than WoW (for land wise)... Wow's area is very concentrated. EQ was SPREAD out. I mean it really felt like you were running through the Karanas (sp?)... where as Wow, zipping from one end of the Barrens to the other is next to no effort.
But like I said, this is why WoW is much easier than EQ. And I think this is exactly why WoW did so well. They eliminated a lot of down time (waiting for a rez), and they put maps, compass, corpse runs are INFINITELY easier, etc.
Remember giving permission to people to pull your corpse to a zone so you could loot it? And you had to loot the items in your body - they wouldn't just magically all be there like WoW.
I do miss the classic EQ days... But I am not complaining about the ease of WoW vs EQ. I enjoy that it's not that much time to do stuff in WoW. You can knock out a few quests, or dailies, in a very short time (especially with the help of AddOns like QuestHelper and the like).
The montly is a pain, as you mentioned DPX, especially these days where I am cutting corners on what I do for entertainment to save money. But most of my guild from the EQ days are all on the WoW server I play on - and it's like the old days with all the joking and fun (most of us all met one another at some point, so it's a very personal feel). And that's part of what keeps me going back to WoW.
That, and I can play a Tauren Shaman with Ghost Wolves now. (Remember the Spirit Wolves shamans got in EQ? Yeah, now Shamans get a 45 second life pair in WoW).

Oops, I meant to say Ahoyyyy matey!
I really enjoyed this totally out of it blonde moment too... absolutely loved all the things you could click on
My only complaint is, that even though there IS a map, you can't use it, lol... what's that all about!?
I lot of people seems to have had problems with the installation, but I have my doubts they actually bought the game..

No, no, Misslilo: trust them
I have a review copy sent to me from London by Marek, who received it from Eidos PR in person and guess what: THREE HOURS to install the game, and I also had to uninstall my antivirus and to slow down my DVD drive to get the installation complete properly.
Aside from that, a great game - way, way more meaningful that what superficially meets the eye (like Sunny herself).

Re: What are you playing now?
Yeah but sometimes review copies aren't the release versions. When we were working with Obsidian and Atari we got Beta and Review copies (later) of Neverwinter Nights 2... I later bought NWN2 (after we were done with our little assignment) - and it was QUITE different.AndreaDraco wrote:No, no, Misslilo: trust them

To the subject - I don't have ANYTHING to play right now!
(She said with a SIGH, looking at the pile of oldies in the corner) - Nah, don't really feel like taking on KQ just yet.

I know Tawmis, but in this case we are talking about a final, definitive version, complete with package, manual, graphics and all. Moreover, many, many people are experiencing the same problems.

Try going to the WiiBrew website. It'll explain everything.the_doctor wrote:probably need to go private if this gets complicated ... is there a good site you used to follow directions to do it? and you have to have that Zelda game to get it to work right?
And you need Twilight Princess, but if you don't own it you could borrow it/rent it/etc. because you only need it for maybe 5 minutes.
