Tim Burton devours him. Almost literally.

So I looked at what he directed & produced... and of the list, I have seen about 20 of them... of them, there's only one I can say I truly liked, which was Sleepy Hollow. But I've not seen Sweeney Todd... but didn't have an interest in that. But - that said, most of his movies are not my cup of tea. I am by far more the action flick type of person. And there isn't much he does in terms of that...AndreaDraco wrote:Maybe now, but some years ago he was truly impressive. I forgot about Big Fish and Sleepy Hollow. I enjoyed those. But nothing else. He's just too weird for me.

Re: The Dark Knight Rises to Feature Catwoman and Bane
I liked Sleepy Hollow, Batman (1989), Beetlejuice and Alice in Wonderland. I didn't care for Batman Returns or Edward Scissorhands very much, but they weren't terrible.
I think the reason I liked Batman (1989) so much is because it was the first time anyone had ever seen Batman as a dark character on film. Most people were accustomed to seeing the 1960s depiction of Batman. So Burton's Batman was somewhat shocking, but in a good way. Looking back, it's easy to see there were lots of problems with that movie, not the least of which is Batman using machine guns on both the Batmobile and Batplane.
Having said all of that... we must remember that even good directors have had their moments where they sunk to unknown levels of depravity. In Tim Burton's case, this movie fits that criteria.

Hey, he made that movie before Tim Burton was even a household name. And in his defense... he was hired to make a "Pee-Wee Herman" movie. Given the subject matter, I'd say the finished film was the best case scenario.
