Superman Movie Reboot
Superman Movie Reboot
Honestly, I'd forgotten that there was yet another Superman movie in the works until it started trending on twitter.
http://www.deadline.com/2011/01/henry-c ... -superman/
Superman has apparantly been cast. Henry Cavill whom I believe previously was best known for The Tudors and being the runner up for a lot of big parts (Bond & Batman)
However the movie will turn out, the man certainly is easy on the eyes
The British actors are pulling in the comic book parts in current movies. Spiderman, Batman and now Superman.

Enough with the F'ing reboots and remakes. Is it really that hard to come up with an original idea every now and then? Give me a so-so original idea any day over this constant regurgitation/recycling of old, stale, used ideas.

I swear, if the first half of this movie is us sitting through the origin story again, I am going to start setting things on fire.

Superman is an American icon isn't he? How can they have a British person star as an American icon? Unless he has a decent enough accent.

There are quite a few British/Australian/other nations actors playing North American characters. As mentioned, the current Batman and Spiderman actors are Brits, a little less iconic maybe but the current Professor Xavier is Scottish. The numbers are even bigger on the small screen though. US Tv shows with Brits/Australians in leading roles I can think of: The Wire, Band of Brothers, Fringe, Chuck, House, The Mentalist, Without A Trace, Battlestar Galactica, True Blood, Hawaii 5-0 (new one) etc etcMusicallyInspired wrote:Superman is an American icon isn't he? No clue on Cavill's accent skills. I don't think I've ever seen him in a role that wasn't British.

Yes, but none of them are American icons. Superman has the American colours all over him. And I had no idea Christian Bale was British.
And besides, Patrick Stewart already played Prof Xavier in the other 4 X-Men movies.

I thought superman was originally created by a Canadian?
I think that Mr Bale is Welsh originally to be exact
Still, I'm a little suprised they went with a Brit. If an American actor was cast as James Bond people would be losing their shit all over the place. To add, isn't Green Lantarn Canadian and Thor Australian. (I still say Alexandar Skarsgard would have made an amazing Thor )

Re: Superman Movie Reboot
Superman was created by BOTH an American and a Canadian.therogue wrote:I thought superman was originally created by a Canadian?
Where did the whole "Superman was a created by a Canadian" myth start? Apparently Canadians are told this, but it's still wrong.
For the record, I'd say it's just as inaccurate to state that "Superman was created by an American."
Do you mean the character or the actor? The character is American, but the actor (Ryan Reynolds) is Canadian.therogue wrote:To add, isn't Green Lantarn Canadian?
I think Canadians in particular have an easy time playing Americans. Obviously, accents depend on region, but depending on where you live in the US and Canada, accents can seem the same or at least close enough.
At least the actor who's playing Captain America is American. That would've been too weird to see a non-American in that role.

The actor who believe it or not is still on telly practically daily here in a show called Two Guys a Girl and a Pizza Place.
Have you seen one of his earlier Swedish movies, Hundtricket? Quite different from the very serious Generation Kill
