Mortal Kombat 9 Goodness!
I may be alone in my love for the MORTAL KOMBAT series?
Some co-workers and I began discussing the newest one they're working on, and it can not come out soon enough...
This Youtube Channel has some MK9 Goodness:

Re: Mortal Kombat 9 Goodness!
I liked MK1, 2 and 3, but after that? Not really. The series got stale for me. It's still good and if I had it around I might play it, but I wouldn't actually go buy a new one.

Agreed. And they're making the new one just like the original three. It's 2D scrolling again, but 3D characters (if that makes sense). I will definitely be buying it, because it's always been a game I enjoyed playing just when I wanted some brainless fun. The 3D Environment was lame; I'll be the first to admit that. That's why I am excited that they have gone back to the 2D Side Scrolling, but with 3D Model Characters.DeadPoolX wrote:I liked MK1, 2 and 3, but after that? Not really. The series got stale for me. Very much like MORTAL KOMBAT vs DC, if you ever played that.
And for those of you who enjoyed GOD OF WAR, you will be happy. (Though I never cared for when they do this...)

I'd really like to play that, but for that I'd need a PS3 or a 360. I don't have the extra money laying around and even if I did, I'd need greater incentive to purchase an entirely new console.Tawmis wrote:Very much like MORTAL KOMBAT vs DC, if you ever played that.

Can't wait for the new one. The MK2 era was always my favourite. I still have the cart for my SNES!

Indeed, it's definitely one better suited for console... I have no idea why I thought you had a PS3...DeadPoolX wrote:I'd really like to play that, but for that I'd need a PS3 or a 360. FINISH HIM! :p
To be honest, I never got into Mortal Kombat after the first one. It reminded me too much of an ultra-violent-but-basically-the-same-kind-of-thing-as Street Fighter 2, which I liked better.

Re: Mortal Kombat 9 Goodness!
In the early nineties, I went every Friday to a school buddy's house, playing MK2 on the console. Loved it. I always played as Mileena (the one with the daggers) and he always took Kitana (with the "knife-hand-fan") for a two to three hour chick fight .
Good old days. I lost interest after MK3 though.

Re: Mortal Kombat 9 Goodness!
I like the Mortal Kombat series. My favorite has to be Scorpion, as I remember playing as him when I was just a little kid. I also played the DS version this summer in Croatia: my boyfriend had it and we were intentioned to finish it and unlock all the special characters! An insanely hard game, though.

Rayden was always my favourite. My brother liked Scorpion. We had the best battles. I was always better with Liu Kang, though.

Re: Mortal Kombat 9 Goodness!
Liu Kang has the easiest combos IMO.
Forward-forward-low punch: low fireball
Forward-forward-high punch: high fireball
Forward-forward-high kick: flying kick
Hold low kick 5 seconds and release: bicycle kick
Holy Moly, I still remember those???

Re: Mortal Kombat 9 Goodness!
Kano was my character of choice. Although for me, Liu Kang and Scorpion were far easier to control... it was just that if I could beat them with Kano, and do Kano's original fatality of ripping their still beating heart from their chest - well, then that was too awesome!
And I agree, Liu Kang was the easiest to control; because you could virtually just do Forward, Forward (any button) and he was doing a move; and so someone could just keep relentlessly pressing that; and it was difficult to tell what they'd do because they could switch from High to Low Punch, and it'd change where the fireball was going; so blocking was difficult.
I tell you though there was no attack more frustrating to fall for than freaking Liu Kang's Bicycle Kick.

I liked Sub-Zero -- the ability to freeze people and attack was nice. I also liked ripping peoples' spines out.

Re: Mortal Kombat 9 Goodness!
PUT A WIG ON HIM!! Yeah, that's something I never thought I'd see on MK.
As for Mortal Kombat - I used to have endless fights with a good friend of mine, back in the day. I'd play Rayden and basically combine the flying attack with the lightning attack, and he'd play Sub-Zero or Scorpion and try to freeze me or grab me with that Scorpion "C'mere!" attack, before I flew right at him and knocked him off his feet. Good times.
