Forum Spambots

Post by Collector »

I read of a spambot attack on SMF forums that tries to do a brute force attack on existing accounts with weak passwords to spam with the hijacked accounts. Recently, on certain boards using outdated phpBB, such as the GK board, a number of users have been having to use the CAPTCHA to validate their login, as if there had been too many failed login attempts. I am wondering if there has been an attempt to hack phpBB board accounts, too. The default is to allow 3 failed login attempts before forcing a CAPTCHA or email response login. Please let me know if any of you have login issues on SHP.

PHP is under attack too. Zappa.com is suffering. And its members of course.
