a mouse issue
a mouse issue
My mouse often times double clicks instead of single clicking. I found out if I left click it at certain part of the left clicker it never does it but outside that area it double clicks. I also noticed my left clicker is not in line with the right clicker infact it's a little lower. I have to press the upper left part of the left clicker to not get it to double click.
Re: a mouse issue
Get a new mouse.

What KIND of mouse is it? Wireless? Wired? Trackball? Infra-red?

I feel your pain, Abyss. I had a dodgy mouse that kept clicking even though I hadn't told it to click. I cleaned it, and cleaned it, and cleaned it... and finally gave up and bought a new mouse.
I no longer fear my mouse. It works properly. Hallelujah!

Is it wired with a ball at the bottom? If so, get a new mouse.abyss wrote:it's a wired
If it's wired with infra-red at the bottom. Clean it, perhaps?
But with the clicking buttons - it sounds like you need a new one, if your MOUSE settings in the CONTROL PANEL of Windows are all correct.

Speaking about mouse issues...
My optical mouse (with the red light) is jittering across the screen when it's sitting still on the mouse pad. It takes a couple tries to double click on things.
I found a Milo hair in it, removed it, but it wasn't the problem.
Five years old... time for a new mouse huh?

Off-hand, I'd say "yes."Jules wrote:Five years old... time for a new mouse huh?
Sometimes mice can work for longer, but it generally depends on what the user is doing with it. If someone is playing a lot of games and/or creating graphics and images on a regular basis, the mouse will wear out sooner than the person checking e-mail and using MS Word.
If you do need a new mouse, I'd suggest one of the following:
Logitech Microsoft
- Wireless Mobile Mouse 3000
- Wireless Laser Mouse 6000
- Natural Wireless Laser Mouse 6000
- Wireless Laser Mouse 7000
- Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 Special Edition
- Explorer Mouse
The Wireless Notebook Optical Mouse 3000 Special Edition is interesting too. It might be a laptop mouse, but it comes in five different colors. If you like customization, you may want to look at that one.

Wow those are pretty shnazzy. The Natural one seems it would be best since my wrist gets very fatigued toward the end of every day... even though I use a Wacom tablet at work.
Thanks for those links, DPX.

Re: a mouse issue
I've been using a more contoured mouse for the last couple years and it is so much more comfortable, especially when using it for extended periods of time. It's not the most ergonomic design out there, but it certainly fits the hand better than a standard mouse.
