 Absolutely no worries! When I remember (and being the old man that I am, that's sometimes difficult!) if a related thread exists - I will try to merge them together.

EDIT: And clearly I need to read the entire thread before replying, because Collector answered this.

I was wondering: when do we expect to hear something about this project?

They said they'll have something ready by the time a Con rolls around this summer. Right now, I think they're prioritizing their Jurassic Park, Walking Dead, and Law & Order games.

I thought I heard we'd get information at E3, which is fairly soon. It probably won't be anything more than an official announcement on direction and some concept art...if that. King's Quest was the last title on their announcement list of upcoming games a few months back. If that's to be taken consecutively than it'll be the last game to come out. Then again, Hector came out before Walking Dead and it was second or third on the list.

Hector was developed by a third-party in Europe, so it's not one of their major titles.

It still had to be remade in the TellTale Tool though.

Way back when KQ was first announced by Telltale they said they would reveal more at E3. Well E3 has come and gone and the only new information we've received is that it'll be released sometime in 2012 and that they contacted Roberta Williams about being involved. She declined and is happy with retirement but offered some "valuable advice." They also confirmed that it isn't a reboot in the traditional sense saying that "There's an awful lot of good story and it would be a shame to ignore it."

If not Roberta, how about Josh or Jane? I could be happy with either, provided that they actually have any creative influence.

Well, at least they asked Roberta, so people can't say they're excluding her. She said no, so it's not TellTale's fault she won't be involved.

Josh has already said a while back that Telltale contacted him. I don't remember any other details beyond that, though.

So it sounds like she'll at least be credited as a creative consultant. Although regarding her advice, I'm wondering if she passed on that tidbit about wanting Josh to continue the series.

By coincidence I saw this news from teltale. I have to say that I am looking forward to seeing what they come up with. Sure they could ruin the franchise, but they could also revive it. except for at few interface related details, I actually like their Sam and Max games. I actually used to hate the idea of the episodes, becuase I thought they expected people to buy an incomplete game at full price. Then I had to review one of the sam and max episodes and I have to say that I was instantly converted.

I do wish they'd release more info on the game - or at least acknowledge the fan concerns. Many of their games are proof enough that Telltale always respects the source material and puts story first. I think it was just the final outcome of BTTF's gameplay that ended up dividing the community so badly. Well, that and the shock of former LucasArts employees taking on a Sierra franchise ("A KQ game without dead ends? Blasphemy!")

I don't yet believe that Telltale has "lost it" as many fans are complaining. I mentioned many times that since Telltale started working on games like BTTF, Jurassic Park, and Walking Dead, their fan-base has now merged with the mainstream, so they've had to adjust their game design accordingly. But "King's Quest" still appeals to a niche demographic, so I don't think it'll become a candidate for the "new style." I think Telltale's keeping it in their back-pocket to be one of the more traditional games.

I haven't tried BTTF yet, so can't say what side I'd be on. Since I'm a fan of the movies I'll definately want to try it out sometimes (Incidentally and completely unrelated, one of my local cinemas is showing the first movie for a week, can't wait to see it on the big screen :-D) Anyways... As far as I see, they can't do any worse than Mask of Eternity. In regards to the look of the game, the other TT games have been a bit cartoonish IMHO, so if you're not a fan of that style, I'd be a bit concerned, personally, however, i don't think it's that bad, although it may not be perfect for the KQ series :-).

BTW about the whole reboot vs new game talk. I once played a fan made version of KQ 2, it was extremely altered, but it was rather good non the less :-D. I do seem to recall there being more story than the original and more conection between the different story/puzzle elements. So it can be done in a satisfying way, at least that's what i think.
