Another flashback (what is it with me and flashbacks lately?!). When I became a mod for Scarface on the Sierra/Vivendi forums, they shipped the game to me before release, so I could try it out (back then they actually still gave the mods the games they moderated for free, imagine that...). I was at work and got this phone call from a Fedex dude.

Fedex dude: "Hello mr. Marchant, I have a delivery, but it doesn't fit in your mailbox. Mind if I put it at your front door?" (in an apartment block that is)
Me: "Nooooo!!! Anybody who sees it might just take it away, man."
Fedex dude: "Hmmm... err... ok... how about in the closet next to your door?" (a closet with the gas meters for all apartments, something NOBODY would look into)
Me: "No way man. There's no lock on that closet! Somebody just might look in it, see the box and take it!"
Fedex dude: "Eh... ok... where do you want me to put it then?"
Me: "Well... my car is in the garage in the basement. A black Fiat, just when you exit the basement door. It's unlocked (yeah...), so could you put it in there?"
Fedex dude: "Eh... ok.."
(signal drops away)
(phonecall back)
Fedex dude: "The signal dropped when I entered the basement, but I put it in the black Fiat. That ok?"
Me: "Awesome!"
(click)
Sure enough, he actually put it in my car in the basement garage.

Really happened. I still feel sorry for that guy...

I can one up this.

A few years ago, SHP was hosted on this very cool website called Tawmis.com... One day the site, Collector, thought had grown to a point that it needed it's own domain.

So Collector got SierraHelp.com.

Then a few days later, I get an email to confirm my account on SHP.

I was like, "Wot's this? I didn't sign up for SHP?"

So I contact Collector, "Wots this about me having an account on SHP?"

"You have one," Collector had replied.

"But I didn't sign up for one," I commented back.

"You're right," he said matter-of-factly.

"Then how the blazes did I get this email that says I have an account on SHP?" I asked.

"Oh, that? That's because I signed you up," Collector had laughed.

"You did what now?" I asked, disbelieving his words.

"I signed you up," Collector repeated. "Look, just because you retell the story like you have some British accent, doesn't change the fact you speak perfect American English."

"Right, I get it now," I said, "but then why did you sign me up?"

"Because I need you to get the forum started," Collector explained, as if I should have already known.

"Wot if I don't want to do it?" I asked.

"You have no choice in the matter, really," Collector explained.

"I don't, do I?" I asked.

"No," Collector replied. "Oh, and another thing - you're not just a user."

"Wot? You've gone and made me a moderator too, then?" I asked.

"No," Collector scoffed.

"Then what?"

"I've made you an Admin too," Collector said with a bit of glee in his voice.

"Wot? That's madness!"

"Yes, it is. Now get to work. I am the Grand Poobah and you are my piratey minion!" Collector boomed.

... and the rest, they say, is history!

(There are plenty portions of this epic tale that are 101% false! Some of it is true!)

Acquired Gabriel Knight 3 in box, complete with manual, comic book, catalogue, Prince of Persia 3D demo + 100 hours of free Internet, and the original receipt!

Very happy with it, and it would've been great if I had all the manual information before playing, would've saved some resorting to walkthroughs.

Unfortunately, it looks like it's the same version I already had: which doesn't have Gabe's book in the book store or the added Bink files. And I'm looking for that information since my script will not be complete without that. :(
There's a new script around: PHANTASMAGORIA - A Puzzle Of Flesh! Check the Script Party topic in the Bard's Forum!

I was going through a lot of my PC games the other day and noticed that several were missing disks, sometimes the copy protection wheels, or a lot of the paperwork. This really annoyed me, and I have no idea where that stuff ran off to, so I went ahead and repurchased several of them.

And this is pretty awesome!

Thanks to Hedegaard, I now have a really nice copy of Rayman. :)

What do you do with that many copies of each game? My multiple copies typically come from buying better condition copies, or because I need something like paperwork or disks for my nice copies.
