I'm replaying it now to be paladin. Just finished QFG1VGA. Playing QFG2 remake now, but it's hard to get into it. I really don't want to put in the effort. I contemplated cheating to raise my skills because I don't feel like grinding, but after testing raising Communication to 200, I noticed bargaining prices didn't change. I thought high communication meant lower bargaining prices.

Leaving and reentering the screen made it work.

I've never understood why being with Nawar is so bad for the thief. And what's so bad about being called "Chief Thief"? It rhymes, and that's pretty appropriate for the game's not-too-serious approach. It's also simple and memorable. For all those reasons, that's probably why that title was chosen.
The other brides are all ladies of such wonderful strong characters who all played some important role in the series. They understand things higher than just flirting and chocolates. One might say the thief's girl ought to be more naughty and funny and less serious. But the thief himself in spite of being not so serious, is not as narrow minded and silly as Nawar. There could've been another female thief of importance in the story. Or, it could have been Zayishah. She has more mettle than Nawar. She managed to sneak away from Khaveen and Ad Avis. She disguised herself as a the Hero. More brains. More courage.

As for Chief Thief, I just feel a thief should be free of such obligations. After all, thieves aren't really power hungry or like officials in general.
Zayishah is now the ruler of Rasier, so I don't think she has time to go out with the hero. :P Also, Nawar is NOT narrow-minded! If anything, she's extremely broad-minded. ;)

Also, thieves aren't power-hungry? Then please explain why they all want to find the Black Bird...? ;)

I think LockHood is referring to Nawar's focus on relatively unimportant traits and items. In this case, I can see how Nawar could be called "narrow-minded" when compared to the other girls, all of whom are thinking about more than themselves.

Once again, I believe LockHood is talking about a different kind of goal here. Thieves generally want a more localized form of power, usually the kind that pertains to their own freedom of choice more than anything. Politicians, on the other hand, want power on a much larger scale.

That said, I always imagined the role of Chief Thief being more like a mafia boss. It'd make sense to take the position with all the Hero has done, especially since he's not getting any younger.

So I guess chief thief is ok . I just had hoped the thief would get a permanent status irrespective of location , like wizard and paladin . Chief Thieves can change . Anyway , thats just my personal preference .

I thought the blackbird was about riches more than power . A king's ransom .

Look at it this way: the position of King (or Queen) changes with location as well.

Being a thief and getting the Black Bird is actually about a lot more than riches. Have you ever read The Maltese Falcon by Dashiell Hammett, or seen the movie with Humpy Bogart? ;) The basic premise of the Maltese Falcon is that not only is it priceless (particularly to collectors of ancient art), but there are also many copies - all of which are worthless and scattered all over the place.

The same thing happens with the Black Bird in QfG. There is at least one fake Black Bird in every game (collect them all!) :D Therefore, finding the real Black Bird gives its finder immense prestige, to say nothing about the value of the actual statuette. ;)

Prestige and power aren't exactly the same . Besides Hero kind just aren't power-hungry , thief or not . Even if the falcon has in addition to the riches , some kind of magical artifact that lets the user get power over others or something like that , being a Hero and all he'd use it solely for good purposes or destroy/hide it if he thinks theres a chance it might be misused by ppl in future .
