What was your hero's name?
Thought this might be fun...
What was your hero's name?
How did you come up with it?
Did you come up with a backstory for your hero? What was it if you did?

Re: What was your hero's name?
My hero's name is Varmas, and it came from an old NPC I wrote for a campaign of Vampire: Dark Ages.
The hero has pretty much the same story: an only rebellious child, Varmas escaped from his parents' home to follow a wandering acting company. After some months, he fell in love with one of the spectators, a beautiful woman who attends their plays every night. The two of them never spoke to each other, but the way she looked at Varmas made him feel more confident and quiet. So, one night, he left in secrecy the inn where the company is staying to try andfind the woman. And this is where his adventures begin, 'cause one villagers says to him that he saw the woman, accompanied by two bad-looking men, leaving the town and heading north..
The story is heavily borrowed from Goethe's Wilhelm Meister.

Re: What was your hero's name?
(Phew! Glad someone replied!)
When I first played QFG/HQ - my hero's name was "Aragon" which was a fantasy land I had created (in the fashion of Tolkien's Middle-Earth which had been the inspiration). I didn't intentionally have it sound like Aragorn of Lord of the Rings. I just liked the sound of "Aragon" as a world name. It was years and years later, that my mother had pointed out to me that Aragon was a place/kingdom in Spain. (Which was ironic since I was born in Spain... And I had no idea!)
I kept it as Aragon anyway for a long time, developing my world, through my own writing, and even playing AD&D games using my world. Years later after that, I'd meet my friend Paul and he ran a game - his world was called Tyra ("Tear-Uh") - and he was distraught when he found out about Tyra (Tie-Ruh) Banks. Even later still, I decided to run a PBEM (Play By Email Game) and ended up naming it Tyragon (which was Tyra+Aragon - dropping one of the double A's!) Created a whole new world, a new history, the whole 9 yards - the Slightly outdated Tyragon site!
Yeegads! Wow. I just realized how much text I wrote. (I am answering this from work and keep getting pulled away - so it was a bit of a rambling thought! misslilo would be so proud of this ramble!)

I do try to keep things fun and interesting. Life's too short. I figure I want to leave my marks not as scars on people - but laughter.AndreaDraco83 wrote:We all are proud of your rambling, Tawmis!

Re: What was your hero's name?
My hero's name was always Rinaldo. Let me quote from one of my posts on the QfmG forum:
I name all my heroes Rinaldo. If there's room, they get extra information. For instance, my fighter is Rinaldo de Guerre; my thief is Rinaldo von Dieb; my wizard is Rinaldo d'Incantesimo.
I think the surnames are obvious, right...?
And "Rinaldo", because Rinaldo is one of the great mediæval heroes, also known as Orlando... a knight of strength, intelligence, nobility and determination. Even when he perished, the tale was turned into a great legend.

The surnames are not obvious. I don't feel very smart right now.

I can only say that Incantesimo is a beautiful Italian choice, Al
As for the German, I can only imagine what "dieb" means

Re: What was your hero's name?
von Dieb = of thief (German)
de Guerre = of war (French)
d'Incantesimo = of enchantment (Italian)
(And d'Incantesimo is definitely my favourite of the names. One day I will write a story about Rinaldo d'Incantesimo...!)

Re: What was your hero's name?
I remember doing this on QFMG. In fact, I think I made the thread...
If I recall correctly, my names were:
Fighter/Paladin = Kal-El
Magic User/Wizard = Raistlin
Thief = Grifter
I'd probably use different names today. Back then, however, I wasn't too original.
