Yeah, I think there'd be blood spilled if my Sierra boxes got tossed away...

Hey I have a KQ5 floppy box with documentation that turned out not to contain the game...

All of which should be in any Sierra collection.

Thanks Tawmis, am especially pleased about Dagger of Amon Ra. Now I just need to find Colonels Bequest from somewhere.
Yeah, I agree Collector. The 'classic' Sierra are really the best (and only things I'm after for collecting)

Very nice additions! One thing which you may or may not know - the nastiest bits of Phantasmagoria 2 are only present in the US release of the game. These are just very short blips though. If you don't mind not seeing some guy's mouth getting worked over with an industrial stapler for example, then you don't miss much. Though personally I kinda dig that stuff .

Hmmm Rudy, thats quite interesting info there.
I thought US and EU versions were always the same in software, but sometimes not the box/contents.
I haven't played them (Phantasmagoria - Police Quest IV - GB 2) yet at all, theres only a few Sierra games I still haven't played, am savouring them for years to come because once you've played them - thats it - you lose all the "first time experience".

Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)
The nature of SCI games make them easy to alter with the addition of a single file. Dropping a new resource file into the game will override the original one packed in the game's archive. This is how they removed ZZ Top from Space Quest. In a few cases you can remove an external resource to get the game to skip a scene. The 2006 VU LSL collection did not include LSL7 because the special Easter Egg ending was deemed too risque. They had contacted Al Lowe, who told them all they had to do to remove the scene was to remove one file, but VU had no idea what they were doing and simply removed the entire game.
All four of the 2006 VU collections had some pretty severe problems. More on the KQ collection can found in this thread:
http://www.sierrahelp.com/forums/viewto ... ?f=6&t=657
The other three had similar problems.

I'm pretty sure I bought PH2 locally, but I do remember that scene, it's one of the scenes I remember the most . But maybe the shop had imported the us version because games weren't as mainstream around here back then.Rudy wrote:Very nice additions! Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)
Some nice items arrived today in the mail, perfectly timed for the weekend! As I am collecting all AGI and SCI releases Sierra has released (excluding compilations), these items are filling some gaps that I still had. So let's see...
1. Donald Duck's Playground in a very nice condition, in aspect of its age and the rather fragile box they used (same as the KQ grey release boxes) 2. Kings Quest IV in its SCI incarnation. This one is the 9 5,25" Disk Version (1.000.111)

3. Pepper's Adventures in Time - shrinkwrapped
4. Shivers - shrinkwrapped
to be continued...

Re: New Acquisitions Thread (image heavy)
Happened across eBay auction for the original Hero's Quest.
This box is quite special, its complete and the original owner had problems with some of the disks, which Sierra changed for him.
Letter from Sierra included too, nice bit of history.
The box is unfortunately warped, because all the extra items inside for a number of years made it grow big & fat. I guess you could call this an American version

Tandy 1000 on that letter... could have been mine if I ever sold it.
