My collection
Finally i displayed all the games and took pictures of my collection. Sorry for the low quality:
Some more on the dining table, including extremely rare games of On-Line Systems (which is what the company was called before they changed their name to Sierra On-Line back in 1982).
And this is how they look when they're stacked:

Re: My collection
Rudy, you're utterly, utterly sick!
Yes, you are so ill that you must go and lie down somewhere. Watch the little gold watch, swinging back and forth, back and forth, back and forth... You are feeling very tired. So tired. Ill and tired. Really, the only way you are going to feel well again is to give that wonderful Almirena all the things in your collection that she wants. When I click my fingers, you will have this knowledge in you, and will act on it. You will remember nothing of this conversation. You will simply pack up all the games you know she wants, and POST THEM to her.

Oh... come on, Al. I'm not even halfway yet ! Don't you want to wait with that for a year or two, so you have a wider range to pick from ?

Oh, I plan to do the same thing in a year's time, by which time you'll have had to buy a separate house for all the titles you have.

You must have a special room dedicated to the storage of your games.

Re: My collection
I have a storage spot in my office. Impressive collection, Rudy. I see you also go for the modern games (FEAR, and its expansions and such).
I should do the same and snap a picture of my collection. You have some of the old stuff (before Sierra Online was their name) that I'd like to get my hands on but probably never will because of costs.

Re: My collection
Yes, my collection stretches from 1980 to 2008, and that's also where it ends. In my opinion, although Sierra as an independent company ceased to exist a decade ago, titles released under the Sierra logo are still Sierra games and, in my honest opinion, many are not as bad as the fans of the classics think they are. It is all personal taste of course, and there is a lot of crap among the later titles too, but some of them would actually exceed your expectations if you'd be willing to try them. The first F.E.A.R. for example, while being a gory FPS, has a very strong story, and you actually feel fear (far beyond the level of Phantasmagoria) when playing it. The best FPS ever IMO. Evil Genius not only has a high level of strategy, but is also stuffed with jokes which crack anybody up and so on. So yes, those i collect too.Tawmis wrote:I have a storage spot in my office. The old stuff i have is more collector value than play value. I don't even have the systems to play them yet. But yes, they go pretty high in price because they're so rare.

Re: My collection
Oh rest assured, I have played FEAR and most of the more modern games that Sierra dished out (not all of them like the racing or the Hulk game, for example - which is funny, as I am a comic book geek - especially Marvel Comics). So I am not just one of those Old Timers of the Sierra Classics who thinks this new stuff is rubbish just because it's not a classic! A lot of the stuff I have tried out. But as ye said - it's all personal taste! Honestly, if YOU enjoyed it - what else matters right? I swear up and down to the whole world that REALMS OF ARKANIA (especially Star Trail) is the best RPG ever - and most people say, "Realms of what?" So it's all personal taste!Rudy wrote: Yes, my collection stretches from 1980 to 2008, and that's also where it ends. Rest assured, just cuz I pointed out that there's modern games in there - I am not dissing that rather massive and insane collection you have.

I knew you weren't dissing it. I'm really surprised to hear you played F.E.A.R. and other modern titles though. What did you think of F.E.A.R. the first time you played it? Gotta love those encounters with Alma, eh? lolTawmis wrote:Rest assured, just cuz I pointed out that there's modern games in there - I am not dissing that rather massive and insane collection you have.

Heh, it surprises you? I enjoy FPS games... I mean, I play GEARS OF WAR almost every night. I also play VIKING (for the X360) all the time...Rudy wrote:I knew you weren't dissing it. As for FEAR... I liked it... I just wish it had Co-Op.

Re: My collection
It does, although that feature isn't normally part of the game. There's a mod called "Fear Co-Op" that you can download. It enables you to play co-op with a ton of people. Maia and I have used this. Sometimes my brother joins in, as well.Tawmis wrote:As for FEAR... I liked it... I just wish it had Co-Op.
It's a large file (almost 272 MB), but that shouldn't take too long to download if you have a relatively decent connection. There aren't a ton of maps for this mod, but those that exist are pretty good.
If you have the commercial version of F.E.A.R. then you can play the single-player game in co-op mode, as well. If you've only got F.E.A.R. Combat, then you'll be limited to online play and whatever maps that are available. All people playing need to have the stand-alone copy of F.E.A.R. in order to play the main game together.

Re: My collection
Ah, was meaning story mode co-op. I didn't play the PC version. Almost all new games I get are for the X360.

There's an Xbox 360 version of F.E.A.R.?Tawmis wrote:Ah, was meaning story mode co-op. I didn't play the PC version. Almost all new games I get are for the X360.
I didn't know that. The PC version has story mode co-op, but as I said, everyone involved needs to have the full game. Since you have it for the Xbox 360, that's a moot point.
