Gold Rush Script!

Right now I've just finished, huzzah, the first draft of the Gold Rush script. I'd play Gold Rush a lot as a kid, but back then my English was way too poor to understand why I died all the time, how to stop the ants along the Panama route (and why that Bible chewer isn't lifting a finger to help) or how to stop getting scurvy. Usually I took the coach route, that was the easiest. I only managed to brand my iron once.
Since then I picked it up a couple of times, but never got very far. I'll have to dig it up and start researching it to see if I can get more order in the script, it's a bit of a chaos now. Checking out Rudy's walkthrough and the death videos as well.
So, if anyone'd like to help out...

-I managed to try this one, and it works: in the Brooklyn bank you can use the following commands for grins:
Hold Up Bank
Kill Teller

-Is there an interactive boat section on the Panama route?

-How extensive is Coloma? I always got robbed by bandits before I got there, never seen it. Looks like there's numerous screens where there's little to do but look at the road, the houses and the tents and the hotel.

-Looking at the people in the rooms while you climb the ledge (something I never got to do in game) can at one point give you the line:
"Now you understand why the ledge is shakin' near this window!"
Anybody ever seen it?

-Plenty of scriptures used: Job 38, psalm 23, psalm 24, Exodus 20, Isaiah 9, Isaiah 53, Daniel 6, epistle of Paul to the Romans, Romans 10, first epistle of John, Revelation 22 and Genesis 1. That's 12 fragments; I don't recall that many being available.

-There's a reward for the poor soul who traverses the mines without even lighting a match: the Goldmine expert Bonus. What is it?

You can't do much more with Lois than the one LOOK or TALK command. Oh, for all the times this LSL player proposed to her as a kid...

Your friend Eric on the Cape Horn-route doesn't make it to California, sadly: to get confirmation of that, you'll have to type "FIND ERIC", "look" or "talk" won't cut it.

It's kinda hard to tell, since I died so often playing it: I took 8 deaths (by icebergs, rocks and cholera) before I finally made it to Calif by Cape Horn; but, also looking at Rudy's walkthrough, it seems like the section where you have to blow the whistle, doesn't always happen. I had it happen once during this playthrough section (and it's MUCH too frustrating to try again): the scene can't be skipped. Apparently the game has a death for it, and in my deepest recollections of playing it way back when, I seem to recall this did happen to me.
Note to self: try to catch this again, maybe shoot a little video...

Eric's a blonde guy you can find on the ship to Cape Horn, he's either standing at the left of the upper deck or, during the storm, he sits on the steps just outside the captain's hut, writing in his notes.

Since MrWhitman left out just the death by explosion on the ship out of his GR death scenes vid, (the scene doesn't always occur, and you know how horrible Cape Horn can be to play through) I shot the video and am trying to get it uploaded.

MrWhitman made this extensive Gold Rush death compilation ('n it's half an hour long, this game is a nightmare!) 6 years ago. Although he didn't feel like hunting down all the random deaths, there weren't many he missed: only 3, those are all on the Cape Horn-route.

A few days ago I made a video of me blowing the ship up by opening the coal hold. Then I noticed it was at Fastest speed and without sound, so I decided to give it another go. And record the other two death scenes while I was doing that.
I played the GR Cape Horn section 52 times: made it only 13 times, died of cholera at some point 23 times, got caught by a bug upon leaving port 3 times, iceberg 5 times, rock 5 times, and blew the valve (which I then found out was self-induced) twice. I'll do it again, see if I can score higher than 25% success rate. Pretty vile, this game. And never did I get the hot coal store door scene in those 52 times. So it's the recording without sound. But I managed to upload it! Along with the other deaths Whitman missed.
