Sorry. I will never reccomend Steam to anyone! Seems all they do on that website is rip people off and offer no help. Now, with the GOG website, its completely different. They actually help their customers.

What exactly are you looking for help with? Updates? Valve doesn't handle the updates. Each game's company creates the updates and then loads them through Steam. Valve has nothing to do with it other than providing the digital distribution platform.

GOG's the same, except there you need to download updates manually. On Steam, the updates are automatic unless you disable that feature.

The website of Steam is a joke! Those creeps/jerks, need to get banned and quit ripping people off! The new Gold Rush Anniversary game, is way over prices, and I thought Sierra, or whomever, now owns Sierra, put a cease and desist on remaking their games.

You do realize that Steam doesn't set the prices, right? Individual game publishers do that. So if you have a problem with the price of the new Gold Rush game (and admittedly, it is priced a bit too high), you need to contact the actual developer and publisher, not Valve.

As for Activision -- who owns Sierra -- they apparently don't own the IP for Gold Rush. Believe it or not, they don't own the IP for every Sierra or Sierra Family title.

My real complaint again, those fools at Steam, is that every time I try to down load the updates for the new Gold Rush game, the dumb website, automatically logs me out. What gives?!

You can't download updates through the website, which does seem to have some weird quirks at times.

You need to log into the Steam client itself. From there you can download updates.

Never had problems with the GOG website.

Millions of people all over the world use Steam and don't have problems (or at least, minimal issues), so you are not the norm.

Regardless, your best bet is to stop using Steam. Apparently you hate Valve with a passion, so why put yourself through the aggravation?

Ok, I need help in filing a complaint with the owners of the Steam site. I am so done! I signed up, then verified my account, now I can't get assistance with getting the updates to a game I purchased, which now, since their site is so messed up, I am wanting my money back. I don't like dealing with websites, who don't offer assistance, for their products, which don't work.

Again, you need to log into the client, not the website. If you're logged into the client and updates aren't happening, try verifying your game cache. It's also possible that Gold Rush's publisher hasn't uploaded and distributed the update through Steam yet.

If anyone from Steam, reads this, please assist me, before I get my bank involved and have them force the website to issue me a refund.

Ok, then I'll have my bank, for the site to refund me. It's that simple. Maybe I'll get others to join me in filing complaints against the website and with enough complaints, in their jacket, they'll eventually get shut down.

Just so you know, it's part of Valve's TOS (terms of service) agreement that any account can be suspended, locked, or terminated if the client issues a chargeback.

Most digital distributors -- including Origin, UPlay, Amazon, Desura, and possibly even GOG -- follow that model. It protects them financially from client-based fraud.

Let this be a lesson to everyone. Don't pay for games and programs, that you can get for free.

In other words, this temper-tantrum of yours is really just a way to rationalize the pirating of software. Why am I not surprised?

Okay - so if you're having an issue with updating GoldRush through Steam - I'd recommend posting on Steam's community page. They may be able to analyze the error you're getting and see if they can resolve it (I have never had issues updating my programs through Steam - and I have like 12 games to my name on there)...
