How many can YOU name? ;-)

Post by Rath Darkblade »

Just a couple of fun things. :) First, Buzzfeed has asked the British to name all 50 U.S. States. Sigh.

Then, just to be fair, Buzzfeed asked the Americans to name the countries of Europe. Again... sigh. So funny, so sad, so silly. ;)

Have a look, and enjoy! ;)

I'd fail at both.

Just spent quite some time looking for the List All Sierra Games game that was posted here once, since the same site that hosted that, also had geography listings.

I tried and got a little over 50% for the USA. For Europe I'd probably get higher - thanks to an overzealous geography teacher who made us study the world's topography and all capitals in 6 weeks and only counted it for a simple test rather than a big one. As much work as it was in relation to what I got from it, I still benefit and still wake up bathing in sweat when I've forgot the capital of Tanzania again (it's Dodoma).

I would easily get all 50 states and nearly all of the countries of Europe.

Because, yes, I am just THAT dumb... I am going to assume that's a trick question; and go with there are no states...? :)

And rather do you Candians do parishes instead? (Like Louisiana has due to the heavy French influences; and ironically, in a recent trip to Jamaica, they also do parishes...)

I think they're called Provinces in Canada.

I was in Germany a few years ago and on the news they were asking younger people (high school age roughly) questions like "How many states does Germany have?" and "What does BRD and DDR stand for?" Most couldn't get them right.

BRD=Bundesrepublik Deutschland and DDR=Deutsche Demokratische Republik, abbreviations for the formal names for West and East Germany, respectively. (Although since reunification the entire country is now the BRD). I'm not sure how big of a deal the state thing is, but this is recent (and important) history.

Half right. We have 10 provinces and 3 territories. *thumbsup*

Guess what I've found...
http://www.sierrahelp.com/forums/viewto ... rcle#p8371

Anyway:
http://www.sporcle.com/games/g/states
List all USA states

http://www.sporcle.com/games/g/europe
All countries of Europe

I did 46/47 on Europe, and 32/50 on the US states: embarrassed about forgetting Montana and Alabama.

Hmm. ;) I got 40/50 for US States and 37/48 for European countries (I missed the very small ones like Vatican City, Lichtenstein and so forth).

Not too bad, I guess, considering that I don't live anywhere near Europe or the USA. *BWG*

Oh, and I'm not sure why - but after I played this game, the links suddenly went dead? :(
