They could play the rest on their own, but it would diverge at that point. The old way would be more akin to a book club. Everyone reads the same chapter and then everyone gets together and discusses it. Given the nature of adventure games, especially nonlinear ones is that some can get stuck, so there might need to be some hand holding between discussions to bring them up to speed (with hints or spoilers.) Granted this is not so much of an issue with games that everyone has played before.
I could see a thread dedicated to it - where the save game is being saved also.
So for example, in the case of something simple for me to remember, I could do:
- Got the remote, the ring, and password in Lefty's
- Upload the save game
Then you could reply with:
- Used password
- Used remote
- Went up to hooker
- Used condom, slept with hooker
- Got candy.
- Upload save game
So on and so on.
(Not to imply you'd sleep with a hooker, just using the first set of rooms in LSL1).
So that way, everyone kind of sees what's been done so far, as each save game is uploaded.
