Space Quest 4 floppy
Space Quest 4 floppy
Does anyone have the 3.5" version of SQ4? I am working on an installer and would like it to be able to work for all versions of the game. I only have the 5.25" version of the floppy release. I need to know what differences there were between the two. Often the resources were divided into more, smaller pieces on the 5.25" over that on the 3.5". If anyone has a 3.5" version, could you please post a list of the contents of each disk and let me know if the installed game has the resources concatenated?

Does it matter if the 3.5" diskette version is EGA, instead of VGA? For some reason or another, Maia has only the 16-color EGA copy. She says she remembers having the VGA copy, but we have no idea where those disks are.Collector wrote:Does anyone have the 3.5" version of SQ4? I do have the 3.5" diskette version in VGA, but I'd need to travel roughly 2600 miles to get them. In other words, those disks are at my dad's house. He's sending me stuff, so maybe I could get those, too. I'd need to ask him. I know he's sending Phantasmagoria (and two tennis rackets), so he might be able to include a few more games.
What about downloading a copy? I realize that's not really legal (and I'm not supporting the idea in of itself), but if you're just looking to make an installer (and not play the downloaded game), would it really matter?

Any help that you can give would be greatly appreciated. I would like a list from as many variants as possible, so Maia's EGA copy would be very welcomed. Since I have multiple legal copies of the game I am not morally adversed to downloading an abandoned copy of the game, but I need the uninstalled files from the floppies to base my installer on. Most abandonedware archives are just zips of preinstalled and altered games. Once in a while such archives of the original floppies can be found, but only very rarely.

A while back somebody sent me ZIPs of each VGA SQ4 3.5" disk. I'll get them to you.
