Hmm... first of all, Datadog, please don't feel you have to be in a hurry to finish this contest. Enjoy your trip! We'll still be here when you get back.

As for the contest.....

1. Daventry (King's Quest 1) vs. Eldritch/Etheria (King's Quest 7). Not really so tough... KQ1 wins hands down, but only because I played and finished it (and haven't finished KQ7).

2. Camelot (Conquests of Camelot) vs. Silmaria (Quest for Glory 5). Camelot would be more interesting to visit - all those castles and old ruins! *puts on his Fedora and grabs his whip, and becomes... *drumroll* Indiana Rath!* OTOH, Silmaria would be much more fun. I'd love a chance to chat with a katta, walk with Wolfie, canter with a centaur or lounge around with a liontaur. Plus, the weather is better (more temperate), and the food is delicious. Silmaria for me.

3. Nontoonyt Island (Leisure Suit Larry 3) vs. La Costa Lotta Resort (Leisure Suit Larry 6). Sigh... toughie. I like them both... LSL3 is a tougher game, but I'd probably have to vote for LSL6, because it's much less of a tourist trap.

4. New Orleans/Schloss Ritter (Gabriel Knight 1) vs. Carno's New England Mansion (Phantasmagoria). I haven't played Phantasmagoria, so no contest here. I'd love to see Schloss Ritter for real. Just two months ago I visited the Tower of London and Windsor Castle, and loved them both. GK1 all the way!

2. There's not even a question here: Silmaria and QfG5
3. This one's tough to choose between, but I'll go with LSL6
4. Easily the hardest choice, but my curiosity makes the decision for me: Phantasmagoria

Oh. Dang. Leisure Suit Larry 3. Had more sense of adventure, which I'd probably need, rather than just being at a resort... despite the super hot redhead in LSL6... this breaks my heart.

Oh. Damn. Ok. New Orleans takes it - GK1.

1. Daventry (King's Quest 1)
Both places would be camping trips since there's very little lodging (and I don't fancy sleeping in a coffin.) So I'd judge both places on outdoor activities, and I think Daventry wins out with its swimming, rock climbing, and treasure hunting. KQ7 seems like more of a look-but-don't-touch place, where I'll be yelled at every time I try to get near something.

2. Silmaria (Quest for Glory 5)
No question for me here. I'd happily retire in Silmaria if that were an option. With its oceanside view, Science centre, and apothecary, it's pretty much the Vancouver of fantasy worlds. I think I could even get a karaoke night going at Gnome Ann's Inn.

3. Nontoonyt Island (Leisure Suit Larry 3)
I almost went with LSL6 here, but then I remembered the extended world of LSL3 where I can mess around in anti-gravity and meet Roberta Williams. So yeah, I'm giving up room service for fan-service.

4. New Orleans/Schloss Ritter (Gabriel Knight 1)
I think everything I would like about visiting Phantasmagoria is already in GK1. Schloss Ritter already doubles as an isolated getaway, plus there's the caves in Benin if I want some added creepiness. Otherwise, jazz and hot dogs. And it's more fun to get possessed in GK1 because of late night topless snake parties in the swamp.
