Well, I haven't watched all that many, but I in general prefer it if the videos don't take forever to load. Also makes it easier to skip to a certain point.
There's a new script around: PHANTASMAGORIA - A Puzzle Of Flesh! Check the Script Party topic in the Bard's Forum!

When you do 6 will you do at least two walkthroughs for both paths? of course you could easily justify having more to cover all of the various possible endings.

I listen to LPs at work, and I don't mind chunks or the full game. With the full game, it's easier to turn it back on in the morning from the "Continue Watching" menu and not have to dig up the playlist.
But the advantage of uploading periodically in chunks is that it makes Youtube's algorithm recognize your channel. Some of your chunks are more likely to end up in search results, recommendations, or side bars, depending on the chunk's content. It can help more people discover your channel. Especially if each chunk has a fun title or something.

When I want to watch a full playthrough (which almost never happens), a single video is best.
When I'm looking for a particular scene to refresh my memory, small videos are better. And there, it's better to have each video represent some distinct section (scene/act/chapter/etc.), rather than just being a fixed length part X of Y or whatever.

Re: Youtube Play Throughs / Commentary Videos...
So do you think the channel should have both?
Maybe one for the whole game?
Then the same game, broken into chunks, that says "This covers this to this in Game_01", the next chunk could be "This covers this to this in Game_01", etc?
I am asking because I am just starting the Let's Play Sierra Games channel thing... and trying to see what works best. (I don't expect people to painfully watch or even listen to me... but for those rare lost souls, that are damned to some kind of Hades, that do... curious what the general consensus is... I mean, breaking them up after doing the whole game, and adding the chunks would be very easy to do... Don't know why I didn't think of that when I threw up the poll...)

Heh - I will probably either do one play through - or restore from a specific point and then do the other path... sort of like how Clue has three endings...Collector wrote:When you do 6 will you do at least two walkthroughs for both paths? of course you could easily justify having more to cover all of the various possible endings.
"This is how King's Quest VI could have ended... or..." then do one of those silent movie things (or it could have ended like this!) and then cut into that portion.

Well. Damn. Apparently adding new vote ideas resets the polls.
So... uh... I won't edit the polls in the future... but I did add my new idea. Um, feel free to recast your votes.

Re: Youtube Play Throughs / Commentary Videos...
I try not to watch any play-throughs unless I'm really, REALLY stuck. If I need a hint, I ask for one here or try to read a walk-thru and only read the hints I need. Or, I use the Universal Hint System. (google it - it's a hint system that dates back to the days of Win95! Yes, I'm as old as the dinosaurs AND their grandpas).

Re: Youtube Play Throughs / Commentary Videos...
If the videos are made for information purposes (I'm listening to KQ4 and that sounds like the case), I wouldn't bother chopping them up. 15 minutes at a time would make the walkthru very hard to navigate. If you want to add chapter breaks, you can add time-jumps in the description so people can fast-forward to certain parts of the game.
Or, if chopping them up appeals to you, break them into videos that cover specific sections (i.e. "Part 01: Getting the Magic Map", "Part 02: Visiting The Isle of Wonders", etc.) And instead of 15 minutes, go anywhere from 20-50 as you need it.

I like that idea. I may do that going forward!Datadog wrote:If the videos are made for information purposes (I'm listening to KQ4 and that sounds like the case), I wouldn't bother chopping them up. 15 minutes at a time would make the walkthru very hard to navigate.
