Is this the same demo you're talking about where the characters and 3D environment took F O R E V E R to load because they decided to render the entire environment instead of rendering one room at a time?

I don't remember it being slow to load, but the walking animations left something to be desired. Characters seemed to skate along instead of walk.

It must be what I'm thinking because the walking was awkward. It must mean my computer is outdated. ^_^

Check the demo again and the patch with the demo. (No idea why they didn't make it all inclusive, but whatever). :)

They just posted a new journal entry today that covers their current status. They also recap what's been fixed since the demo (walking and rendering are no longer major issues.)

I wonder if Phoenix Studios is still allowed to create TSL. Their agreement was with Vivendi Games, not Activision. The IP may now belong to Activision, but any deals made before acquiring the IP may or may not remain active.

I'd think finding out before continuing any further work would be in Phoenix Studios' best interest.

I've heard it said that while ActiVision isn't as into the idea of licensing fangames as Vivendi was, they will honour any previous contracts made with Vivendi prior to ActiVision taking over and give them enough time to have a lasting effect after they're complete. They're not going to be making anymore fangame licensing deals, though.

Will any one be allowed to make a new fan game or finish one thats in progress since Activision doesnt care about the Old Sierra titles anymore? Since SQ7 project is put on hold because of Vivendi.

I don't think so. They may not care, but they still own all the copyrights (Intellectual Property)... So I'd wager they'd prevent anyone else from doing it - even if they never do anything with the IP. Sort of like Vivdeni, who did nothing for most of the time that it owned all the classic Sierra IP, except release a horrible version of Leisure Suit Larry - but they were quick to stamp out anyone else from doing fan based games that got too much attention.

At least they re-released most of the classics (King's Quest, Leisure Suit Larry, Police Quest, and Space Quest) one more time before handing their souls over to Activision.

As I just said, they're no where near as close to being open about licensing fangames as Vivendi was. So there's even less chance of that happening now.
