[2018] The time to guess is at hand!
Please remember to use the SPOILER tags when making your guesses so you don't ruin it for anyone else!
I also recommend adding "....." at the end of the person's true name so the spoiler tags look longer than the names! That way it doesn't make it too easy for others to guess without actually checking spoilers!
So for example rather than say "I think The Butler is Tawmis"
You'd say "I think The Butler is Tawmis........"
Please make guesses as your regular self as I am about to disable the MASQ accounts.
The MASQs were:
*Whoopee Cushion
*Col_Mustard
*Buttercup
*Russian Bot
*Bowsette
*Cosmo
*Sasquatch
*Windows95
The people wearing MASQs were:
BBP
Datadog
Jules
Rath Darkblade
notbobsmith
Spikey
Qbix
Semi-Happy Partygoer

Re: The time to guess is at hand!
Well, Col. Mustard must've been ...Rath Darkblade.... Similar sense of humor as last year's Squirrel of Midgard, and even a repeated post in the "Continue the Story" thread: hop, skippety hop, like they were on drugs (or something like that).
I'm pretty sure Russian Bot was ........Datadog, partly because a post was made referring to metric units of measurement, and Datadog's Canadian.
Some are harder to pinpoint or give sound reasons for, but here are a few guesses:
Bowsette: .....................BBP
Sasquatch: ...Jules
Cosmo: Spikey......

Re: The time to guess is at hand!
*Whoopee Cushion - Semi-Happy Partygoer? No idea...
*Col_Mustard - That had to be Rath: the humour, the Oz, the QfG, the singing, the cats and the late-to-party
*Buttercup - I guessed Spikey because of low posting frequency.
*Russian Bot - I'd guessed Datadog because of the humor
*Bowsette - Qbix, because of the similarities between the Bowsette avatar and his own...
*Cosmo - Jules was my initial guess because of low posting frequency and because she was MojoJojo once, but now I have her for Sasquatch... SHP?
*Sasquatch - Jules, because of the gardening references
*Windows95 - notbobsmith with the enthusiasm...

Re: The time to guess is at hand!
*Whoopee Cushion - Rath Darkblade, either this one or Col. Mustard
*Col_Mustard - notbobsmith, and yet maybe it ISbobsmith?
*Buttercup - BBP, because they start and end with B and P
*Russian Bot - Semi-Happy Partygoer, because that robot likes to party
*Bowsette - QBix, because I'm taking shots in the dark now
*Cosmo - BBP, because maybe this one instead?
*Sasquatch - Jules, because that sasquatch seems like a Jules
*Windows95 - Spikey, also because maybe probably?

I am not sure how they're going to take that!
I am assuming you mean their posts and not their image?

Re: The time to guess is at hand!
I really don't have much of a clue with most people, but I'm pretty sure Col_Mustard is Semi-Happy-Partygoer because he mentions Oz-Stralia in the A to Z game.
These are mostly just wild guesses:
Whoopee Cushion: BBP..........................
Buttercup: Spikey.......................
Russian Bot: no fair peeking............
Bowsette: Jules........................
Cosmo: Datadog....................
Sasquatch: Rath........................
Windows95: Qbix.........................

Re: The time to guess is at hand!
Hmm. Are we allowed to reveal who we were, or does that wait for another thread?
My guesses are...
*Whoopee Cushion - Datadog, perhaps? Or maybe Datadog was Windows 95?
*Col_Mustard - Semi-Happy Partygoer! All those things about Australia, QfG, singing, cats etc. was just to throw everyone off!
*Buttercup - Spikey, perhaps.
*Russian Bot - notbobsmith?
*Bowsette - Qbix, possibly
*Cosmo - is that you, BBP?
*Sasquatch - Yep - I'd say that's Jules
*Windows95 - Datadog? Are you there?

Hmm, interesting. Lots of different guesses for everyone. When and where shall we start revealing our identities?

Re: The time to guess is at hand!
Qbix told me he won't be guessing, so basically we're waiting for Spikey? Before we used to announce who was right but I like it better to reveal it after everybody has guessed, so that late guessers still have something left to puzzle... especially with only 8 players...

Re: The time to guess is at hand!
If someone has guessed you, you can use spoiler spaces to reveal it (but same thing, use "...." to hide the length of the person's name), for example:
BBP............ was correct in guessing who I was!
I figure November 5th, you can just post who you were (using spoiler and ".....") to hide who you were in the event someone would still like to try and guess and may be late to coming to the thread! For example:
I was actually ..............The Butler! Bet you didn't see that coming!
BBP............ was correct in guessing who I was!

Re: The time to guess is at hand!
OK, Spikey hasn't guessed yet, but for the other's, here's my confession:
This year I had huge problems coming up with a character. I still relish my gig as Stephenie Meyer, which allowed me to come up with crazy stuff without having to worry about quality. So, I was looking for:
-a recognizable character that a lot of you are likely to know
-a character I could easily make new text for;
-a character that's not so obviously BBP you could tell it's me straight away, so no Donald Duck.
And then you think and then you think... and then I came up with House. I like House MD a lot, but you didn't know about that.
Unfortunately my loose lips blabbed about House to one of our other players, so I had to drop that ID, and then it was the 29th...
... and I came up with Cosmo. I like the first few seasons of Fairly Odd Parents a lot, I have 7 FOP DVDs.
After last year's failure at Mrs White (who I chose solely for the opportunity of making a poem from the Flames monologue, which I did post - but alas as BBP), I tried to be as careful as possible with hint drops.
Here they are, from the A-Z thread:
Y-shaped Coffin: a famous Blackadder joke refers to a certain woman with loose morals as "Jane "Bury-me-in-a-Y-shaped-coffin" Herrington. I'm a huge Blackadder fan...
Voucher: I work for a company called @Leisure, which owns the Belvilla brand. It's an intermediary between holiday home owners and people who rent holiday homes, dealing with the financial side and with pesky customer questions like "what type of coffee machine is there". As such I see a lot of vouchers.
Kutner: House MD character
Forgetful: ask my BF...
Alice in Wonderland: love the book and Disney film.
Lupus: running gag from House MD. Lupus is suggested in about every episode.
Pitch: music person here...
Under the Bridge: U was hard, so I picked the RHCP song. Maybe gooey but I have fond memories of singing it with my elementary school class.
Torn Curtain: Hitchcock film. I like Hitch.
Poetry: I love poetry. I have a tendency to start the Poetry thread, which I sorely missed this time. (didn't want to start one because that would give me away)
Imagine: Basically what I do all day.
Butterfly: I love them and I mentioned my love for Fatal Frame II, Crimson Butterfly around here.
Two Lies:
never prize / never speeding ticket / never surgery:
I'd only just won 2 prizes in one week when I typed that! I did have surgery when I broke my ankle. And I never had a speeding ticket. Or a car.
Favourite games: I don't like GK2 much and haven't played MI3. I have spent most of puberty listening to music while playing Minesweeper.
Sleep/Frogs/Juggle
I can juggle, of which I made an animated GIF once, posted it here too but can't for the life of me remember where. My sister loves frogs and I have a long history of sleeping trouble. Must've talked about my somnambulism here a few times...
Heimlich / window cleaner / police car
I don't have a car, and I was a professional cleaner (part of that was cleaning interior windows, oops). But I did have to use Heimlich on my father once, which was terrifying.
At this point I realised I was giving away too much and stopped playing.
Sierra game topic.. well... not knowing what to do was my general complaint and timer issues wreck sections of GK1, GR and LSL3.
Cedric goes without saying. So does mapping mazes. KQ5, argh!
Alligator or croc is both in GR and LB1. "That smells exactly like the..." refers to LSL5's lack of dialogue.
That's about it: BF and Cologne kept me away some weekends and work didn't help either. Plus Tawm forgot to send me my password (which I didn't realize until I was away at my BFs and was unable to ask him).
And so ends my brief stint as Cosmo. Rath guessed me correctly and Datadog had me half right, but since I've also been mistaken for Buttercup, Bowsette and Whoopie Cushion I did better than last year, yay!!

Re: The time to guess is at hand!
All right, here's my story.
I wasn't too sure who to be this year. Squirrel of Midgard was a fairly obvious allusion to Heroine's Quest - I picked him mostly because I really enjoyed his story-line. This year I thought I might go for something more CLUE-centric, so I picked my favourite character from the movie CLUE.
I don't think I dropped too many hints, except Australia, QfG, singing, and cats. I deliberately muddied the waters a bit in the A-to-Z and Mr Boddy games, so as not to give myself away.
Although I did think that my entry as Mr. Boddy (i.e. "Ah-ha, musketeers! They shall sample my blade!") was a clue. That's also Daffy Duck's entrance in "Duck Amuck". Daffy is my favourite Looney Tunes character, and "Duck Amuck" is his magnum opus.
"Sir Samuel Vimes" from Discworld was also a clue, as he's my favourite character there.
I can't remember if I dropped any other clues, but yes, my sense of humour is a bit of a give-away in itself... *wry smile*
SHP and BBP guessed me correctly, but I was also confused with Whoopee Cushion and Sasquatch. *shrug* Oh well.
By the way, BBP, how did the "late-to-party" give me away? *concerned*
Also, BBP, I didn't realise you were a big Blackadder fan. That's awesome - so am I! Yes, I well remember that line about Jane "Bury Me In A Y-Shaped Coffin" Harrington.
Blackadder: (in WW1 trenches) "Baldrick..." *sighs* "...what are you doing?"
Baldrick: "I'm carving something on this bullet, sir."
Blackadder: "What?"
Baldrick: "I'm carving 'Baldrick', sir."
Blackadder: "Why?"
Baldrick: "Well, you know how they say that somewhere there's a bullet with your name on it?"
Blackadder: "Yeeeeeees?"
Baldrick: "Well, I figured if I owned the bullet with my name on it, I'd never die. 'Cos I'd never shoot myself."
Blackadder: "Oh, shame."
Baldrick: "And the chances of there being two bullets with my name on it are very small indeed."
Blackadder: "Yes, that's not the only thing around here that's very small indeed. Your brain, for instance, is so minute that if a passing hungry cannibal cracked your head open, he wouldn't find enough to cover a small water biscuit."
(As stupid as Baldrick's plan is, it has some basis in truth. In ancient times, when soldiers with slings-and-stones used to be around, they used to carve insulting or clever messages on their stones. The messages were things like "Here's a sugar plum for you!", "For Pompey's backside!", or simply "Catch!"
Eventually, they stopped using stones and started using lead bullets in their slings, but the practice became so prevalent that a whole industry grew up to mould these lead bullets with a message already on them. Some of the messages were ... well, very sexual, and very rude).
Anyway, that's my bit of totally un-useless trivia for the day!
