Re: The time to guess is at hand!
My reveal: I was Buttercup the Manatee!
The plan this year was to post random manatee facts while educating people about marine life conservation and the dangers of plastic straws. I didn't get to post too much this month, unfortunately. I started a new job partway into October and my son entered his terrible twos, so my attention's been a little divided. That's why my infrequent posts make me come across as Spikey.

Wow! Well disguised!
I'll amend my guess to say that notbobsmith was Russian Bot, then.

Re: The time to guess is at hand!
My reveal:
I had a hard time coming up with a MASQ profile at first. Then, totally at random, I settled on...
Whoopee Cushion!
I don't know why, exactly. It just seemed silly and fun, and I get a kick out of old-school novelty gags.
Here are a few of my clues:
- I mentioned Adobe as one of my alphabet contributions. I'm into graphic design (as listed on my profile) and use Adobe products.
- Lemon Hoki was one of my food submissions on the "Upset the Chef" thread. Hoki is a fish found around southern Australia and New Zealand, and Sydney is where I'm currently living.
- I mentioned a few Laura Bow specific comments here and there, and, given my screenname, I'm obviously a fan of the series.
- I listed passing the dart demon as one of my frustrations on the "Trapped" thread. The dart demon is an obstacle from the Yobi's spelling tricks games, and my new profile picture is of Yobi.
I'm glad I managed to fool some of you. I seemed to be easily mistaken for Rath sometimes, given the Oz connection. At least there were still some surprises.

Re: The time to guess is at hand!
So far I'm batting .000 with my guesses, but here's my reveal.
Rath Darkblade and Semi-Happy-Partygoer (second guess) are correct. I am Russian Bot. A while ago I saw the notice on the forum about how new registration would be put on hold because of "Russian Bots" and thought that would make an amusing MASQ ID. I don't know how obvious I was. I dropped hints about Star Trek and Mass Effect as well as some science stuff. But I did leave one big clue. Did anyone click on the links that I posted in the "ads"? The first one went to the original rick-roll video. The others are also '80s songs and, well, see if you can see the pattern. These are in the order that I posted them:
Never Gonna Give You Up by Rick Astley
Opposites Attract by Paula Abdul
Take On Me by a-ha
Bette Davis Eyes by Kim Carnes
Owner of a Lonely Heart by YES
Break My Stride by Matthew Wilder
Simply Irresistible by Robert Palmer
Maneater by Hall & Oates
Invisible Touch by Genesis
These Dreams by Heart
Head Over Heels by Tears For Fears

Wow, okay. That was thoughtful. Nicely done, Notbobsmith.
And congratulations on the new job, Datadog! What are you doing, if you don't mind me asking?

Brilliant job with the video clues. Insanely clever
Datadog, allow me to join the others in congratulating you!

Wow Notbobsmith... that's an amazing clue!
(I checked out all those vids, wrote down the names and didn't notice. I'm so going to flunk this year's AIVD puzzle...)

Re: The time to guess is at hand!
By the way, BBP, how did the "late-to-party" give me away?
Also, BBP, I didn't realise you were a big Blackadder fan. That's awesome - so am I! Yes, I well remember that line about Jane "Bury Me In A Y-Shaped Coffin" Harrington.
Blackadder: (in WW1 trenches) "Baldrick..." *sighs* "...what are you doing?"
Baldrick: "I'm carving something on this bullet, sir."
Blackadder: "What?"
Baldrick: "I'm carving 'Baldrick', sir."
Blackadder: "Why?"
Baldrick: "Well, you know how they say that somewhere there's a bullet with your name on it?"
Blackadder: "Yeeeeeees?"
Baldrick: "Well, I figured if I owned the bullet with my name on it, I'd never die. 'Cos I'd never shoot myself."
Blackadder: "Oh, shame."
Baldrick: "And the chances of there being two bullets with my name on it are very small indeed."
Blackadder: "Yes, that's not the only thing around here that's very small indeed. Your brain, for instance, is so minute that if a passing hungry cannibal cracked your head open, he wouldn't find enough to cover a small water biscuit."
(As stupid as Baldrick's plan is, it has some basis in truth. In ancient times, when soldiers with slings-and-stones used to be around, they used to carve insulting or clever messages on their stones. The messages were things like "Here's a sugar plum for you!", "For Pompey's backside!", or simply "Catch!"
Eventually, they stopped using stones and started using lead bullets in their slings, but the practice became so prevalent that a whole industry grew up to mold these lead bullets with a message already on them. Some of the messages were ... well, very sexual, and very rude).
Anyway, that's my bit of totally un-useless trivia for the day!

Re: The time to guess is at hand!
I was joking about that... you've been a member of the forum so long but you only first joined the masquerade last year. You were even guessed a number of times, although you weren't competing! It's cool you go for Colonel Mustard but it would've been completely awesome last year (I was hoping for more people to join the Clue Movie theme, one of the reasons I went as Mrs White).

Re: The time to guess is at hand!
Haha nice clue, notbobsmith! Unfortunately we don't have wi-fi here at the house so everything I do online is allll on data so I try to lessen the amount of streaming I do. Otherwise I would have been intrigued by the choice of videos!

Tell me you forgot the word "yet" at the end of that?

So will we learn the identities of the remaining attendees? I think we are still missing Jules, Spikey and Qbix. I still have a chance to have guessed someone correctly!

Qbix, I know is busy - and may not be making a guess (and by reveals, can be determined by process of elimination).notbobsmith wrote: ↑Tue Nov 06, 2018 5:56 pm So will we learn the identities of the remaining attendees?
