Our debit cards (Canada) do not double as credit cards as apparently US debit cards do. That's all I know. Our debit cards use a PIN number and takes the money right out of your bank account. We haven't needed anything yet (besides luxuries) that require credit or a credit card. And right now we only have one income. There are also very few places that actually take cheques here. It's either cash, debit, or credit card. You can also (only) use online banking here if you have your debit card as you need the card number. Credit cards are a whole different matter altogether. And I still haven't been approved for getting one with my bank.
But I've since found out that Steam actually DOES take PayPal transactions now. So I'm out of the woods! They didn't take it when last I tried buying something on there.

Hmm, that's interesting, DPX. Never knew that.
As for checks, I never write them. Instead, I'll use my debit card which is so much easier. As for a PIN, they always always always ask for my pin when using my debit card. I've never seen a place that doesn't. Wait, let me take half of that back. The first time I bought gas at Chevron, the card reader asked for my pin but ever since, they recognize me as a customer. So yes, if someone found my card, they can get free gas at that particular Chevron but any other Chevron, they'd ask for a pin.

Under small amounts ($10?) do not require a PIN. I usually use a credit card for such small amounts. Much easier than keeping track for balancing my check book. I get a couple of bills each month to enter in my register instead of a couple of dozen. It makes me money, too, as they are rewards cards and I ALWAYS pay 100% each month, so there is no interest to pay. In other words, I use my credit cards like debit cards, only spending what I have to spare. Does wonders for your credit rating, too.

Not to start an argument, but if you weren't attempting to correct me, what was the point in restating everything I wrote?MusicallyInspired wrote:Yes, I know what you said. I was just explaining it how I looked at it.....but now that I look back, I guess I don't really see the reason. Maybe I was tired and was just blabbing...lol.

It happens. I often "blab", but usually to Maia. So no one sees it here.MusicallyInspired wrote:I was just explaining it how I looked at it.....but now that I look back, I guess I don't really see the reason. Maybe I was tired and was just blabbing...lol.
