I have it. I've not played it yet.notbobsmith wrote: ↑Mon Jan 21, 2019 10:32 pm I've looked up Gold Rush 2 on Steam. I guess it's a continuation of the story with the same characters. Even some of the locations look familiar. Is it any good?

It was done by Sunlight games, the company that hired me to create a modern package for the original. Along with permission to do the remake they got permission to redistribute the original. Everything we did had to be sent to the MacNeill brothers for approval. I was not involved with the sequel.notbobsmith wrote: ↑Mon Jan 21, 2019 10:32 pm I've looked up Gold Rush 2 on Steam. So I actually did it. I made it through the mine without the lantern. Basically I saved. Used the lantern to chart my course for the next few steps. Restored. Made the moves. Rinse. Repeat. Pretty tedious. Was it worth it? Probably not. I got the bonus, but I can't actually see what it is. It doesn't understand the word "bonus" so I can't look at it, and Ctrl-S doesn't work like in most AGI games.
Only an handful of user reviews on Steam. The reviews are mixed but not very helpful. "garbage game not worth the money". Wow, I have never done that. I still have my Gold Rush saves. I may do what you did just to do it.notbobsmith wrote: ↑Thu Jan 24, 2019 11:15 pm So I actually did it. I browsed all over the game data a few times to see if I could find the invenory item, but there's no such thing - there's no view for it. So all you have to show for it is basically what you screencapped.
There's another text in case you did light a match:
"Not bad! Ya haven't used the lantern, but ya lit a match!"

There's a new script around: PHANTASMAGORIA - A Puzzle Of Flesh! Check the Script Party topic in the Bard's Forum!

Re: My Gold Rush playthrough
By the way, I presume that by "Gold Rush" on Steam, you don't mean this?
Also, the game sells on Steam for $15.49 Australian (which is $11.12 US, or 21.50 Dutch Guilder). If you paid $10 for a game like Gold Rush 2 and you're still not happy, then you are a sad, sad human.
(Tawm, please no Larry-type jokes about the expression "mine gas").
Sounds about right for Steam reviews, sadly. Another negative review reads: "It sounds like the name of another game when its a point and click adventure." Excuse me while I do this:notbobsmith wrote: ↑Thu Jan 24, 2019 11:15 pmOnly an handful of user reviews on Steam. The reviews are mixed but not very helpful. "garbage game not worth the money". You can light in a match in a mine? Does that light the mine gas and set off a chain reaction that kills you?

It's not as bad as I made it out to be. Just requires a little patience and persistence.Tawmis wrote: ↑Fri Jan 25, 2019 11:42 amWow, I have never done that. I still have my Gold Rush saves. I did see this when I was looking for Sierra's Gold Rush. Just a little bit different. It looks like it's similar to the {VEHICLE] Simulator games, which seem to get great reviews but I never understood the appeal of.Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Sat Jan 26, 2019 7:36 pm By the way, I presume that by "Gold Rush" on Steam, you don't mean this?
That's unfortunate. A little something would have been nice. Maybe a trophy or something.
I thought I did use a match without restoring, but I could be mistaken.
