The "Too Many Games, Not Enough Time" Problem.

Post by Tawmis »

So ... are there games you have that... perhaps you haven't even installed... or installed... and not played... or installed... and only played a few moments of...

Simply because there's not enough time?

What are some of the games you have that you've barely even touched for whatever reason?

There's still Sacrifice lying around here, which is a Tim Curry game and for that reason alone worth playing... I'm also having trouble getting myself to play SQ2, which I just started on. Ooh and I still have some Lemmings here...

I'm working my way through "Obduction" right now, but I keep getting sidetracked.

Whenever GOG has a sale, I pick up some of the classic titles that I never played before. Like the Ultima series or Zork (I got them just recently). The problem I always have with older games is getting used to the play style and controls. Games that I grew up with are no problem, but I never seem to get around to these because they require a bit more effort to learn.

Definitely too many games on my end. I like picking up freebies and grabbing really cheap deals, but my daddy duties come first and I only get through a handful a year. It's the same with TV too - I have no shortage of shows to eventually catch up on.

Tons. Metric tonnes. I don't think it's that I don't have time. It's that I'm just too lazy or disinterested. I need to just force myself to go through them all but I just never feel like starting a brand new game anymore that I'm not super hyped about lol.

Agreed. So many games nowadays just look like the same thing repeated ad nauseum. It takes something special to pique my interest. Gotta search for those diamonds in the rough.

Yeah; but that sounds like games you don't have. I am more curious about games you DO have. Or are you saying you got a bunch of games that remind you of other games?

NWN2 is a long game; especially if you include expansions.

The Sierra games, I obviously, highly recommend.

MI will probably strongly recommend Mage's Initiation for some weird reason. ;)

Both, really. I have acquired a number of games over the years I haven't completed. Partly because I don't currently have much time and partly because many of them are back in the states, and I have no idea when I'll be able to go back for a visit and grab some of them.

It probably won't be as much of an issue in the future, as I'm far choosier about what I buy nowadays, given that few titles truly seem to interest me.

I was talking about games I do have. Games that I've never played. Classic shooters, adventures, RPGs, modern shooters, adventures, RPGs...just never feel like giving them an actual whirl.

And yeah, I can't explain why, but I have a strong compulsion to push people to play Mage's Initiation...

Most of the early Tomb Raiders I've started but never finished; King's Quest III and VIII; Quest for Glory I and II; Gabriel Knight; Phantasmagoria; Eco Quest; Freddy Pharkas; I own the Monkey Island games but have never even installed them; Police Quest; Codename ICEMAN...those are just the ones I can think of off-hand.

Start on GK and work your way from there... GK's too good to miss because of work!
