In their offices at Westwood Studios, Brett Sperry and Louis Castle stared open-mouthed at their CRT monitor. The latest title from Sierra was the most bizarre and meta-experience they'd ever encountered, a game where you actually played the Sierra devs as they created a new game!

"This gives me a great idea for a game," said Brett. "It was a dark and stormy night when..."

Malcolm the jester entered the old, abandoned shoe machine factory. Deep within, he thought he could hear voices speaking.

The voices came from deep within the shoe factory - in fact, from the wrecked set, where Roberta Williams was still yelling at Al to take Larry and Patty away. Just then, another wall broke down and in spilled the people of Rockridge, led by Sheriff Bart and the Waco Kid, fighting off the evil forces of Hedy Lamarr.

"But enough about Sierra's game, let's get back to developing our version!" said Louis.

Malcolm tiptoed to the back of the room, wielding his Jester's staff. He could see the four Royal Mystics conferring in hushed tones while standing around something.

A member of House Ordos sneaks into the chamber, dressed in gleaming white armour covered by a drab olive-green cloak, and tries to steal the glowing orb that the four Royal Mystics are standing over!

Oh dear! I knew I'd heard about Westwood Studios. The people who developed the Eye of the Beholder games, the Lands of Lore games, the Dune games ... and the Legends of Kyrandia games. (I played some of the EotB, LoL, and Dune games - but not LoK).

Malcolm tapped the Knight turning him to stone and cackled manically.

Brett Sperry turned to Louis Castle and asked, "Do you think..."

Oh dear! I knew I'd heard about Westwood Studios. The people who developed the Eye of the Beholder games, the Lands of Lore games, the Dune games ... and the Legends of Kyrandia games. (I played some of the EotB, LoL, and Dune games - but not LoK).

Malcolm is the... crazy Jester... from Legend of Kyrandia II and III... but primarily III.

Louis Castle replied "Maybe, but that's part of the fun! But, back to the story..."

Malcolm's cackling draws the attention of the Mystics. They turn towards him and say...

"Allow me to introduce you to..." (A Roland MT32 song plays) "Miss Ticks!"

Malcolm paused, considered the irony of the name and said...

"Look out! A member of House Ordos is sneaking behind you and trying to steal the glowing orb!!!"

[* Interrobang]

"Do we look foolish to you? Do you really think we would fall for such an obvious ploy?" said one of the mystics as a member of House Ordos snuck behind them and stole the glowing orb.

[*The Butler]

With the glowing orb, the unnamed mystic touched Miss Ticks with it, which made her vanish!

Malcolm, shocked by the turn of events...

...turned to confer with his consciences, Gunther and Stewart, to find out what he should do. "Excellent!" cackled the evil Gunther, "this Orodos guy can wipe out the mystics!"

"Now, now," said Stewart, wagging his finger. "We really should help them."

Tawm, the member of House Ordos had already stolen the orb. So the mystic couldn't have used it.

"Really?" Malcolm said. "What should I do?"

"I say, slaughter them!" Gunter barked.

"Oh! Let's be nice to them," Stewart advised.

"No! Quick, unsheathe your dagger," Gunter said. "I want to stab them in the back!"

"Oh, stab yourself in the back," Stewart scowled.

"What?!"

"You're always going on and on."

"Now, now," Malcolm folded his arms. "Let's stop arguing. How about some hot chocolate?"

"All right," Stewart said. "It goes against my principles, but let's kill them first - and then have hot chocolate and choc-chip cookies."

"Yes, right." Gunter said. "But - oh! - not choc-chip cookies. They give me wind."

"OK, OK!" Malcolm said. "No choc-chip cookies, but let's kill them anyway!"

"Right!" they all said in unison, and looked around.

But the mystics have disappeared...!
