Silent Thunder install and speed issues

Hi there,

I remember havuing such a great timne playing Silent Thunder way back when and I dug it out to have another go. First of all, thanks for the updated installer. However, I had a couple of issues. Firstly, installing in Windows 10 doesn't work properly - the game files are copied but when I try to run the game I get an error saying that A10SHELL.EXE could not be found. Installing in linux through wine was more successful - I got through to the bit where it asks if I want to rip the audio to mp3 (which never happened on windows). Anyway after a lot of faffinf around which involved me installing in linux, copying files to windows and then hunting for a dll called _INMM.dll on the internet, I FINALLY got the game working (despite it moaning at me about some registry settings - I put that down to my hacky install). BUT the speed is so fast as to make the game unplayable, and I can't fullscreen the game. There's also an issue playing the into video, where it says it can't find the iv32 decompressor.

Any help for any of these issues would be greatly appreciated, even if it's recommending a 3rd party app that will kill the frame rate. I tried with rivatuner, but thta only seems to affect D3D games and Silent Thunder appears to be software only.

I don't see a "A10SHELL.EXE" and in the log file it says:

Collector can probably figure out why that A10SHELL.EXE is showing "Not Set" - I don't know enough about the game (or Collector's amazing installers) to piece those bits together.

if it helps, there IS an entry in the add/remove programs dialog for A10SHELL.EXE - I searched the hard drive and came up nothing though.

Yeah; when Collector pops on here he will probably know exactly what's wrong.

That installer relied on a shim I developed to get the game to run on XP. While it may run OK on Win7, it has been broken on later Windows. It would take more time to develop a new one than I currently have to spare. If I can get some extra time I may look at it, but my To Do list just keeps growing.

Let's keep things in perspective. Collector did say he's swamped with real life issues. Thing to keep in mind is that this is simply a hobby and a favor he does the Sierra community. This isn't his job.

And no need to be sorry - just asking to be patient. I can't speak for when he might get the chance to check out the issues you're having. I get it, you want to play a game you enjoy - and have hit dead ends getting help.

I'm sorry, but developing a new shim for Win10 could take quite a bit of time, something that I currently have very little of. Maybe I should just pull the problematic installers.
