Hmm. I'm surprised that no-one's yet wrote a book about TESB, entitled "The Empire Strikes Book."
(Or maybe the Swedish Chef could take Darth Vader's place, and then it would be "The Empire Strikes Børk"...)

How about Back to the Future Part 2? It took place in the "future" of 2015!
Something else to think about is in the original BttF, Marty starts in 1985 and then travels 30 years back in time to 1955. If we were to do that today, we'd go from 2020 to 1990. That's just weird to think about.

Re: Star Wars / Star Trek Discussion (SciFi In General)
Now this looks good! Apparently they're making what appears to be a REAL Star Trek show on the Enterprise (commanded by Captain Pike, who was the best character out of Discovery season 2) called Star Trek: Strange New Worlds. Just looking at the photos you can tell they're going for an updated concept on TOS, but they're keeping the general feel and aesthetic.
Hopefully this works out and actually tries to bring ST back to its roots instead of whatever DIS and the JJ reboots were.

Hmm. I just started learning English in 1990 (that was when my family emigrated to Australia).DeadPoolX wrote: ↑Sun May 31, 2020 8:18 pm How about Back to the Future Part 2? It took place in the "future" of 2015!

I suppose that in 1985, 30 years in the future looked very, very far away. (Speaking of which, the Back to the Future game was very, VERY fun. What a pity it's not on sale any more ... I got my copy)

Thirty years in the future always seems very far away. 2050 is three decades from now, and that seems futuristic. Also... in 2050 I'll be 70 years-old, so that's weird. As of 2020, my Dad isn't even 70 yet (he's 67) so imagining myself older than he is just seems odd.Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 5:21 am I suppose that in 1985, 30 years in the future looked very, very far away.

Yeah. In 2050, I'll be in my mid-70s, sitting in a rocking chair on my apartment porch and telling the darn'd kids to get out of my tree.
Speaking of "Back to the Future, Part 2" ... there are some things it got right. Phones (or at least apps, like Zoom and Whatsapp) that allow us to have video-calls are commonplace. We also have hover-boards, but they're not so common (yet).

Word! Here's hoping. Been hearing about the possibility of this for a while. I just hope they don't dash our hopes like they did with Discovery.DeadPoolX wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 3:28 am Now this looks good! D'oh! *facepalm* If that's to scale, there's no way you could keep a bunch of keys on it.
Hmm - now I've had an idea for a Star Trek parody, where Captain Kirk is a bumbling buffoon (similar to how "Get Smart" parodies the James Bond films). I have a title that I know will sell a million copies. I'll call it "Star Trek: The Wrath of Khan't".
What do you think of that, hmm?
