What's interesting about hers (and probably done on purpose), is that it's Mileena she's hugging - and they have a long, long, long, long, long history of hatred for one another.
So I would love to see this done with someone else besides Mileena (like a male figure) and see if it's exactly the same.

Because Sonya is military, it's like a pet machine gun that behaves like a dog. (Not that great for Sonya... would have been better if she did a kissing booth, since her first fatality was that kiss she blows)

Yes. Just like... Spawn. Funny you wondered about those two but didn't think it was weird that Spawn was there?
They've done a lot of "guest" characters in the last few MK games. They did a whole "Horror Genre" - where it was Jason, Freddy and Leatherface (I think just those three).

I think Skarlet's (the painting) is pretty lame, but I love Sheeva's (with the glass music).

So upon digging - I discovered Kitana must have another friendship - as the patty cake thing seems to be available to everyone....




Then I got more confused... but there's one of Joker doing everyone's....





And did more digging and found this... everyone doing Jax's friendship.





So I am guessing every character has their own friendship - but you can do the Friendship of your opponent since all of these were vs Jax.

Like Tawmis wrote, those two have hated each other since their inception. I think the first game they were in was MK2.

Sonya Blade is military and has access to all sorts of drones and tech. Oddly enough, it looks like she's wearing the outfit she wore in MK3 (or something similar to it), which is very different from the military outfit she wore in MKX.

Spawn's costume is actually living symbiotic armor. If I remember the comics (and it's been a good 20 years or so since I last read an issue of Spawn), his armor is actually called "Leetha of the 7th House of K." What does that mean? No idea. It's just something Todd McFarlane likely made up on the spot to sound weird and/or cool.

They made a deal with the IP holders of those properties. It's not the first time this sort of thing has happened.

Mortal Kombat X had characters in it like the Predator, the xenomorph (from the Aliens series), Jason Vorhees (from the Friday the 13th series), and Leatherface (Texas Chainsaw Massacre).

Other fighting games have done similar things, too. Injustice 2 had the Teenage Mutant Ninja Turtles and Scorpion (from the MK series). The Soul Calibur series has featured characters from Star Wars (Darth Vader, Yoda, and Galen Marek), The Legend of Zelda (Link), and Spawn!

Probably because that's his character-type: the lone gunman. Really, if you stop to think about the characters in the MK series (or any fighting game series) for too long, you'll recognize that they're all cliches in some form or another at best and at worst, they're simply ridiculous. Doesn't mean the gameplay isn't fun, though.

Playing as a Predator vs a Xenomorph was genius in MKX. As well as Jason vs Leatherface. MK9 even had Freddy Krueger (and the PS3 version had Kratos from God of War). But MK11 allowing the pitting of Robocop against Terminator was the best thing ever. I just wish we could get all the guest fighters from previous MK games into one big game....kind of like Smash Bros did with Ultimate. But alas, that's probably asking too much. Imagine Terminator vs Predator though. Or Jason vs Xenomorph. I just love all star fighting games...

Speaking of which, we need Scorpion and Sub-Zero in Smash Bros. Or Raiden. We already have Ryu and Ken from Street Fighter. Imagine finally having Street Fighter vs Mortal Kombat....in Nintendo's Smash Bros of all things! Yeah it'll never happen, but it would be sweet.

I just bought MK XL for PS4 a couple weeks ago. Comes with everything. So nice. I usually wait for complete editions before I buy stuff lol.

Same. Although they released Nightwolf, which makes me want to get that bonus content. It's fun to do 1:1 Kombat vs the AI, but more fun (to me) with someone (which these days, isn't a thing).

Side note: I remember talking about Nightwolf and the new MK, and sure enough, we had an MK11 thread - so I merged it. - Tawmis
