Stranger Things 3 (The Game) - Free from Epic.

Post by Tawmis »

If you like retro games, that kind of feel like Double Dragon meets Golden Axe meets Stranger Things.

It's so perfect that it's an 80's retro game feel (considering Stranger Things timeline).

It's freaking free. Get it. It's so fun!

What is "Stranger Things"? ;) I know it's a TV show, but it hasn't made it here to Australia, so I don't know what this is all about.

It's a throwback 80s thriller/creature/monster series in the vein of a combination of The Goonies, X-Files, Twin Peaks, and movies/shows like that. It's kid-centered like a lot of 80s adventure movies by Steven Spielberg were. It also takes place in the 80s. In season two they dress up as the Ghostbusters for Halloween because it had just been released.

And it is a very good show. The third season was much more of a throwback to 80s and early 90s action movies actually, as it ended up way more over the top than the first two seasons. But it was great. I haven't played the game yet but I've heard good things and I know it would be great fun if the Duffer Brothers have anything to do with it (the creators).

Telltale was all set to create a game series based on Stranger Things before they went kaput.

Stranger Things is available on Australian Netflix.

Given Rath's limited Internet bandwidth, I imagine he doesn't have Netflix.

Nope, I don't have Netflix (or any other additional TV channel, for that matter). *shrug*

Still, I don't think I'm missing much. I haven't watched TV (apart from the news and the occasional quiz show) in ages.

I just meant that you said it hasn't made it to Australia, but it's there.

So the game has proven to be quite fun.

However, DPX might get a chuckle out of this thread (since eons ago we discussed "saved vs check point / auto saves").

This game takes the worse elements.

First, there is no way to "Save Manually."

Second, there's no "Check Point" saves.

The game literally, just seems to "Auto Save" randomly. I can't tell if it's like every 13.5 minutes or some weird variation. But the auto save is utterly random, as far as I can tell.

Lol wow that's unique. I have yet to actually try the game. But then, I have yet to try many a free game I've redeemed over the years. :D

Wow. That's unbelievably lazy of the devs. An auto-save that saves in a seemingly arbitrary manner is just poor design, regardless of the price.
