I played SQ4, but I thought the "codes" on the gray ... wall (?) ... had some kind of other meaning to them.
(The first time I looked at that screenshot, I squinted and looked sideways, because I thought perhaps they spelled out "TAWMIS" or something).

They do, BBP - you're right.
Also, if you look at the last one ("IC"), it looks like it spells the word "LUTE" or "JUTE".
