[2021] Continue the Story...

[*The Butler]

In this game, I'll start a story and every post will be a line continuing that story. Let's limit each line to 20 words or less. Here we go:

It was a dark and stormy night, when....

[*Reading is FUNdamental]

... thunder rolled. (It rolled all the way down the hill, and said "That was fun, ma! Let's do it again!")

[*Gamera]

My lack of sleep was clearly affecting my inner monologue. Here I was, staking out a bar when...

[*Reading is FUNdamental]

...I realized that stakes are for vampires. Silly detective! Do better next time.

[*Gamera]

Fortunately, I happened to be staking out some vampires. I saw the one I was interested in enter. That's when I made my move.

Unfortunately, the vampire turned out to be an ordinary person who just happened to have an overdeveloped overbite and a penchant for wearing evening wear at all times. The sunglasses were fancy, though.

[*Gamera]

I recognized the sunglasses as belonging to an ancient master vampire. How had this man gotten them?

[*Reading is FUNdamental]

"P-p-please don't hurt me!" The man explains nervously that he got the sunglasses from an antique dealer in Chinatown. He also gives me directions.

[*Gamera]

I go to the dealer in Chinatown, but the place is closed. I pick the lock and make my way in. I am shocked at what I find inside.

The owner is inside, doing a stocktake. When he sees me, he picks up an old but serviceable Luger and points it at my direction. " 'Ey! Who d'you think you is, breakin' in 'ere, eh? I'll blow yer head off!"

[*Gamera]

"You sold a pair of sunglasses once belonging to a master vampire. I want to know how you got them." The owner lowers his gun. "It is a long story..."

[*Reading is FUNdamental]

The owner doesn't lower his gun. "I don't care if you is the Pope AND the Queen! You break in 'ere again like a common crook, I blow your heads off! Now, outta my shop! Vampire, my foot. Who do you think you is, hasslin' a small businessman?"

[*Gamera]

I knock the gun from his hand and point it at the owner. "One more time... where did you get the sunglasses?"

[*Reading is FUNdamental]

The owner isn't intimidated and pulls out a sawn-off shotgun. "You just stand still there, boy." He pulls the rotary phone towards him and starts ringing. "LAPD? Please come quick! Robbery in progress!"

[*Gamera]

I realized things were getting out of hand. I quickly left the store and managed to elude the police. My best clue so far had slipped away.
