Red Skies (Machinima - Not Mine!)
Look for me (or is that listen for me?) in an upcoming episode of RED SKIES machinima, where I have a bit part as a Report by the name of George (if it goes through). Here's a promo piece for RED SKIES (has no talking in it - just gives you an idea of the premise of the series).

Red Skies trailer - with a quick snip bit from me. This isn't kid safe, ironically just for my quick preview line. I am not making this machinima - I am just lending my voice for a bit part. The actual episode comes out on the 14th of November (or so it's slated).

I have only red the lines for the first episode - and I am pretty sure, judging by what happens - it's my only slot in the series.

A bit of a rehashing of Red Dawn?

*shrug* Not even sure what the guy plans to do with it. I only saw the first script for the first episode for my lines (where the person I voice, I would assume dies). So not sure what goes on beyond the first episode.
But it's a little like RED DAWN, yes, from the initial looks of it.

Even so, it allows you to do something you enjoy doing.

Re: Red Skies (Machinima - Not Mine!)
Yeah. I pretty much offered to do voice work for other machinima out there on the Machinima website. Just to do it.
I would love to get DRAGON AGE for the PC and use their TOOLSET (works similar to the Neverwinter Nights one we use, but way more advanced and WAY more beautiful) to make a drama piece using it (rather than comedy).
Someone out there is bound to do so.

I would be interested in seeing it. I've been a little burned out on comedy, lately. What about the Unreal Development Kit tha DPX linked? Might be a bit of a learning curve, though.

Exactly - the learning curve. My brain, I think, is pretty full. Like it's impossible (literally!) for my brain to apparently learn anything new. For example, I use Sony Vegas Pro for video editing lately (used to use the free Windows Movie Maker that comes installed with Windows XP) - and let me tell you, while I have mastered Windows Movie Maker - my brain can not wrap around Sony Vegas Pro - which, according to everyone, is supposed to be pretty easy to use. But for my brain - it's like, "We're sorry, we're full. Not more knowledge can be stored here."

I haven't used Vegas Pro, but it's one of the programs that Sony got when they bought out Sound Forge. I never liked the Windows Movie Maker with its clunky GUI. You are best off to forget Movie Maker not draw parallels between it and Vegas Pro. The Vegas interface looks a lot like the old Ulead Media Studio Pro, which seemed to have about the best interface. Think of it as an old light box for sorting slides, only going left to right represents time. Each row is a separate component, whether film clip or audio clip. Where they meet up column wise will occur at the same moment in time. If one clip ends at the same point that another one starts, there will be a sudden transition. If an audio track and a video clip over lap column wise they will occur at the same time. If start or end points don't match it means that one will start or end before the other. You can also zoom in to the point that you are working at level of frame by frame, which makes it very easy synchronize things.
On a side note, you can make more room in your brain by forgetting about all of your Sierra games. After you have learned SVP you can then have the pleasure of being able play them all again as if for the first time.

Re: Red Skies (Machinima - Not Mine!)
Tawmis, I might be able to help. I have experience with Adobe Premiere, Adobe After Effects, AVID and Magix Movie Edit Pro 14 Plus. In my opinion, Premiere and MEP14P are very easy to use while AVID takes some work (plus an AVID workstation costs an unbelievable amount and usually used by professional video companies) and After Effects... well, that's an extremely difficult program to use.
Three of those programs are very expensive (Premiere, After Effects and AVID) and the cost certainly isn't worth it for anyone who doesn't work in professional video production. However, Magix Movie Edit Pro 14 Plus was only $40 CAD. I'm sure it's less in American dollars, plus I believe a new version was recently released. I doubt there's a whole lot added to it, but this means MEP14P will likely reduce in price even more.
I haven't used any Sony video editing products (beyond that which came with my camcorder) or those made by Pinnacle. I've also heard Final Cut Pro is amazingly easy to learn and use, but that's exclusively for the Mac.

Re: Red Skies (Machinima - Not Mine!)
Heh. Yeah I had no hand in the writing. For example, I think he should have taken out one of the "Right now"'s he put in the script. Because I have one line that begins with "Right now..." then someone says something, and I come back and say, "Right now..." Again.
I think that's why it's important to read the script out loud yourself when you write it - ... but meh, was fun to do.
