I much prefer #2.
#1 is weird: there are no kids or or families (or puppies) in KQ5, and Graham seems to stand on thin air.
OTOH, it does have Cedric!
OTOOH, Cedric is a pain in the aaaaaaaa---- hey, whoa! This game is great, kids!!!

I assume, you understand, that it's basically implying it's a game for the entire family, and they're being pulled into the world of Daventry.Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Sat Apr 20, 2024 11:31 pm #1 is weird: there are no kids or or families (or puppies) in KQ5, and Graham seems to stand on thin air.

Sure, I get that... but still, Graham looks like he's standing on thin air. Yikes!

#2. Nice artwork that shows (loosely) what the game is. A fantasy adventure game. Nice background.
#1 looks more like a magazine ad. The artwork for the cover should, again, show you what the game is about. Making the art focus on the people playing it seems a little odd.

Pretty sure #1 was an attempt to grab the family vibe and show it's a game for the whole family. There's, no doubt a reason, the husband, wife, daughter and son (and family dog!) are all included - covering all genders whether young or old.notbobsmith wrote: ↑Wed Apr 24, 2024 12:25 am #1 looks more like a magazine ad. I prefer the second box, although I think the first box (the weird one with the kids) was released first because that's the one I had.

Re: Which version of the King's Quest V cover...
Odd, I've never (in person) seen the one with the kids. I always had the other one.
Only reason I suspect the Graham solo one came out first, is I had the 16 color version of it.
I suspect that they released KQV in both 256 and 16 color to cover the market.
Unless the kid one has a 16 color version too?
Or perhaps both closely released at the same time?
I feel like the kids one would maybe be an attempt to attract more people to purchase it (great for the family!) after the original released, release it with a new "family encouraging cover"?
I've no idea.

The first one is sweet because it’s advertising a game for whole family, but the second is more game appropriate and in keeping with other covers for the series.
