Continuity-wise, Leisure Suit Larry actually makes sense. Wait a sec -- Leisure Suit Larry makes sense?
The Glorious Police Quest. Sonny spends half the game working out to improve his marksmanship, strength and driving skills before taking on the bad guys. And after every bad guy, he goes back home to rest, or builds a little fire to roast some meat to eat. Why? Because that's what the QfG hero would do.

Leisure Suit Larry VI.V: Cruising On Cruise Control. You are Larry Laffer, and you have a feeling you're going to be going on a cruise soon. But before you do - to ensure you have the best time - you need to track down Barbara Bimbo from the Dating Connection show you were on to make sure Barbara's mother is busy! So this time - rather than hitting on all the women you see - you're out there trying to convince men to date Momma Bimbo to make sure she doesn't go on another cruise!

Re: Game: "Let's NOT write a Sierra related kickstarter!"
Space Police Quest. You are Sonny Pongs (sorry), and your quest is to scour the galaxy with your highly developed nose, looking for pongs! When you find one, you get on the phone to your uncle's brother's cousin-first-removed, Roger WIlco, who then has to come along with his mop and bucket, and remove said pongs. The more bad smells you find, the more points you get! But beware -- there are nefarious manufacturers of aftershave, cologne, and perfume out there who are continually making pongs, and they will not hesitate to create a smell so vile, so evil, so unutterably bad that it will put even your highly developed sniffer out of business! (Mwa-ha-ha!)
Hang on. In today's gaming environment? Someone, somewhere, might ... just ... buy it. What do you reckon?

Re: Game: "Let's NOT write a Sierra related kickstarter!"
Whoops. I was thinking of this, from wikitionary:
Pong, noun. (Britain/Australia/New Zealand slang) A stench, a bad smell. Probably from Romani pan (“to stink”). The word "pong" is at least as old as the 1970s, and probably earlier. I've seen it used on early 1970s TV.
The word now has variants: pongy (stinky), pongier, pongiest.
The word has even reached Lonely Planet. For instance, from Lonely Planet's The Europe Book: A Journey Through Every Country on the Continent, page 57: "In France, Époisses is known as the pongiest of its 500-odd cheeses." (Wow, that's one stinky cheese).
This slang word even became a verb, e.g. "Geez, that guy been to the gym? It pongs like a sweaty jockstrap in 'ere!"
Etc. He ponged, she pongs, everybody bloody pongs. Get away from that swamp, Laura -- it pongs!

Yeah, apparently Australian slang is a bit wild. For instance, in Canada there's a clothing company called Roots. A while back I learned that some Australians think this store's name is funny because the slang word "root" means something very different in Australia than it does in North America.

Mixed-Up H.P. Lovecraft: Enter the Cthulhu Mythos of eldritch horror writer H.P. Lovecraft. The Great Old Ones have all been misplaced! Can you restore them to their proper place before all of existence is shattered or you go mad?

!!! Love it, notbob!
Is Canadian slang also influenced by UK slang, DPX? After all, Canada is part of the Commonwealth too.
These influences go the other way, too. To give just one example: so-called English words like "curry", "cashmere", "bungalow", "thug", "karma", "nirvana" etc. all come from India. They didn't exist in English before the Brits entered India. But anyway ...
===================================
Mystery Louse - Ack!!! Little Billy's been sent home from school with head-lice. Mum delouses Billy's hair again and again with special shampoo and a delousing comb, but some lice keep re-appearing, poking their tongues out at Mum, and going "Neener neener neener". Where are they hiding? Can you help Mum solve the mystery before the lice overrun Billy's hair? The more lice you kill, the more points you get -- huzzah!
Um, yes. Aussie slang is very ... blunt. To put it politely, to "root" means to, er ... procreate. Ahem. Then again, a lot of Aussie and New Zealand slang comes from the UK, since Australia/NZ have been part of the British Empire (or Commonwealth) for a long, long time. But most slang words in Australia/NZ since the 90s or so is home-grown.DeadPoolX wrote: ↑Tue Nov 10, 2020 4:52 am Yeah, apparently Australian slang is a bit wild. There's a fair amount of slang that may have originated in the UK, but there's also a ton of slang from the United States as well. There's also some slang that's unique to Canada, but this can vary based province.Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Wed Nov 11, 2020 1:21 am Is Canadian slang also influenced by UK slang, DPX? Canada is a weird hodgepodge of the US, UK, and to a limited extent, France as well (although that's mostly in Quebec).
Here's a good explanation about how Canadian English is similar and different to American English and British English.

Police Quest I.V: Hot Wheels. You are Sonny Bonds, and you've been placed on a special assignment. You need to find out why all the wheels being given to the Police Station are faulty unless you check them! You go undercover and quickly learn that the tires designated for the police squad are being given to a band of mercenaries called 'Fast and Furious' and the Police Station is getting cheaply made tires!

Thanks, DPX. Canadian English makes more sense now.DeadPoolX wrote: ↑Wed Nov 11, 2020 3:30 amThere's a fair amount of slang that may have originated in the UK, but there's also a ton of slang from the United States as well. Tawm. "You won't get tired of our tires".
Police Quest VI: Stupor Man. There's a new clerk at the Lytton Police Force, but he drinks himself into a stupor, acts kind of weird and always keeps to himself. Maybe all he needs is a little ... quantum of solace?

Er, I don't get it? I thought M.A.D. was Mutually Assured Destruction, so I thought this was a riff on James Bond.
So what are these one-eyed floating orbs about?

Nope, never played it. Sorry. *shrug*
Mystery Spouse. Aaah! The Mystery House has a new occupant, one who you (the player) are destined to find and marry! Or maybe he/she is an axe murderer! (Aaah!)
Your job, should you accept it ... *insert appropriate dramatic music here* ... is to find out which it is! *insert crashing chords*
Perhaps your Mystery Spouse is a Knight in Shining Armour (who says "knee").
