Sorry but I have only one more question:
Did you edit any of the sound/voice files?
I don't know if you ever played this game, but there is no audio during the first campaign intro. All other sound effects (voices, music, etc.) are working.
Thank you again for your effort!
Edit: I find the missing file. The name is "pspeech.vol" and it has to be at the ".../SIERRA/MTECH/VOL" folder.
It must be missed in some of the "resource.xxx" files?!

As far as I know you need to get the CD version or buy the speech pack to have it.

That means if I have both, the expansion and the speech pack, I have to install the expansion first and than the speech pack?!

I don't have the speech pack, so I don't know if that would be necessary. You'll just have to experiment. The CD version is easy to find, so you may want to buy it and have everything.

I installed ES1 with your installer and I'm not hearing the speech during the briefings. It's the CD version so speech should be included right? I noticed the size of the installed folder (39mb) is much smaller than the size of the cd contents (168mb) so I'm wondering if it didn't install everything correctly? I also noticed right before the game loads while its still in the DOS prompt it says "Illegal command: mode"..

It looks like you are missing some files in your FLIC and VOL folders. There is a demo of Aces of the Deep on the CD, in not just the AOD folder, but also the SIM and SOUND folders. It also has an Imagination Network installer. All of the files that are not part of ES total over 17 MB.

It looked like one of my speech files was corrupt so I installed the speech pack and I hear voices now. Hopefully the rest of the game will run fine. In any case can you tell me what files I was missing?

Missing files:
- FLIC\MECHVIC3.DFL
FLIC\MI_INT1.DFL
FLIC\VICTORY.RAW
FLIC\XPINTROB.RAW
VOL\PSHELL0.VOL
VOL\PSHELL2.VOL
VOL\PSPEECH.VOL
VOL\PZONES.VOL
VOL\PZONES1.VOL
VOL\SIMLANG.VOL
Also, I noticed that you applied the pack to the CD version. I may be wrong, but I believe that the CD version already includes the expansion and speech packs. DPX may know for sure.

Actually I did not apply any patches or the exp pack (your installer wouldn't let me). Only recently did I replace that one speech file, but that file already existed, I was just updating it. I do have the expansion disc, and I found on there all those files you listed, and just now copied them over to the game's flic and vol folders, and now the game closes itself when I go to start a mission. Apparently the expansion disc is only for the floppy version but I figured it would be safe enough to copy those few files over but obviously not. I wouldn't normally do that but at this point I'm just experimenting. I don't understand why those files weren't there in the first place, maybe I have a different version of the cd from you. Are you sure those extra files are supposed to be included with the cd, and not just the floppy?

Well, as I said, it was based on the pack being applied to the floppy version, hence the file discrepancy.

I think there may be some confusion because I we're in a topic about the expansion pack. That was my mistake for replying to this topic, when I probably should have made a new one instead that was focused on the cd installer. I do have the floppy version and expansion, but I've only installed the cd version. I only took out the expansion disc after you listed those files and thought they might be included on it. And they were so only then did I try copying those specific files over to the already installed cd version. Anyway I've taken those exp files back out of the cd version game folder and the game runs fine again, so I think everything should be ok now.
