In New York, each day is made up of several smaller puzzles that help you complete a final puzzle. For example, you need to get the data card at Coney Island to complete Day 1. Everything else leads up to that. In San Francisco, you just go around and solve the puzzles and the day just… ends. So Day 1 in New York always ends at Coney Island, Day 2 always ends at the museum, etc. In San Francisco, the days can end anywhere depending on what order you visit places. It's not a huge deal, but it just leaves me with the feeling that New York was designed better.
You know, I never noticed that (about how the days end in MH2). I think I have only played the MH series maybe two - three? - times. And that was a very, very, very long time ago. And you're right - I like the way that MH:NY seems to be set up. I like when it's streamlined. Pieces lead to the next, and end in a specific area. Makes it feel more streamlined. And easier to see where you might have messed up if you can't seem to move forward!

In SF, you can actually end Day 1 at the Manhunter's apartment if you leave that for last. The designers actually took that possibility into consideration and the usual "xx Minutes Later" screen that is shown at the end of the day as you return home is left out. You're already there!

This is especially true for Day 1, where you have to die at Hyde Street Pier and Timov's apartment! The first time I finished the game, I finished Day 1 by "accident". I never figured out what it was I had done right until
years later (~1994) when I had access to the Internet and found a walkthrough.

And thus concludes this little exercise:

I guess whatever adventures our intrepid Manhunter will have in London are left to the imagination.
This has actually been kind of fun. Thank you all for taking an interest.

Thank YOU for taking the time to share this with us! And like Collector said - why stop there? Why not do other Sierra games as well?
(I mean I know WHY you did the Manhunter games, because of the specific date...)

My pleasure. Maybe I will do more in the future. Maybe the PQ series. PQ1 was my very first Sierra title.

PQ would be pretty cool, because it's the day and life of a cop - and plays through very solid and believable.

Random Necro post - but since I took the Manhunter Shrine and put it on LarryLaffer.net since the original site went down - mind if I put these linked on my LSL site under the Manhunter Shrine page?
