This game (and map) are seriously huge.
The map is huge. I'd recommend "sailing" up and down the ways (save often!) to map some of the areas out.

Dunnage is... in the south west area of the map (not sure where you are on the map). :)

Er ... where am I? I'm still at that big huge city with lots and lots and lots (etc.) of quests. ;) I forget its name, but it includes "suburbs" like the Queen's Birth Berth, the Gullet, etc.

So, I started sailing up and down to map things out. :) It's starting to remind me of this game. ;)

I also finally reached Hasongo (or maybe Ha-sing-a-song-o? I forget - I played this game for hours last night and nearly fell asleep from exhaustion). At any rate, I encountered some underwater snake people called Naga. Why does that remind me of Warcraft 3? Although I suppose the "snake" concept comes from Hindu myth, but still ... underwater snakes? Come on, don't tell me WC3 wasn't involved in some way! ;)

What do you think? :)

And if you mean Influenced by Warcraft 3, you actually mean influenced from D&D, which used Naga in their 1st Edition Monster Manual, which pre-dates Warcraft by QUITE a few years, then yes.

Ah, fair enough. I forgot about D&D (and never saw 1st Ed, though I saw 2nd Ed -- but not the Monstrous Manual).

But as you pointed out - I am sure it's all based off the Hindu mythos - and D&D tended to pluck from everywhere.

So ... I took most of yesterday to play POE2, and finish lots and lots of quests. Among them was Beast of Winter.

Sigh. I really, really wanted to like this one, but it felt boring, because it took itself so seriously. (My party is level 14-15, so fairly high-level by now). Just getting to the end of it (i.e. battling the dragon) was frustrating -- all the little minor sub-quests and finding the right places to click etc. in order to move the sub-quests forward. :( It was a relief when it was over.

Why do the POE games always have expansions that are all "WINTER IS COMING! IT'S THE END OF THE WORLD!!!" etc.? :(

It also didn't help that the new NPC (Vatnir, I think? This guy - the priest who was predicting the end of the world) was very boring, and frankly hypocritical. :x I couldn't wait for this to be over, so I could get rid of him.

I also didn't like the look of the guy. It reminded me of both the Mouth of Sauron and the Falmer from Skyrim. ;)

What did you think?

I'd need to check - but I don't think I got the BoW expansion.
As a matter of fact, I think I had skipped out on all of the PoE2 expansions.
I should get around to them. But, over all, PoE2 to me (as I've said a few times) wasn't as enjoyable as the first so I wasn't so invested in... well, investing more time into it.

Huzzah - I finally finished this game!!! :D

Overall, I agree -- PoE2 is longer, more meandering, and (IMNSHO) also more boring than PoE1. *shrug* Sorry ;)

No, I agree.

And now that you finished it... I never cared that you, as the main character, see the thing rise (being obscure for everyone else) and know its intentions.

And then.... you meander around... doing trivial things, when clearly the potential of the world is at hand.

I did love naming islands I discovered, though.

Hmm ... so just wondering. What's next, now that "the Wheel" is broken? If Obsidian are going to create PoE3, they're going to change it up a little; from what I've heard, PoE2 didn't sell as well as the first one.

I didn't bother naming islands. There was too much to do -- too many quests, too much rushing about. Deadfire is huge.

It is huge. But it was fun renaming the islands after (RL) friends and things. :)

As for PoE3, as you said low sales of PoE2 - "Obsidian isn't sure about the future of Pillars of Eternity. After the sequel failed to live up to the lofty expectations set by the original, Obsidian is left to believe that major structural changes are necessary if a third game is to be made."

But they're supposedly working on a first person game called "AVOWED"

It's set in the same world of PoE.

It's a bummer, because I am not a big fan of first person games in general.

*shrug* Meh. You can't really tell much from the trailer or the website.

TES (at least Morrowind, Oblivion and Skyrim) are all a first-person games -- at least, you can switch between first and third -- and they're all very fun. They're fun because there are lots of things to do, not because they're first or third. :)

For now, all we can do is wait and see. Hopefully it turns out to be good. :)

Absolutely! Where else can I install mods that let me be Darth Vader, cast spells that cause steam engines to blast down from the sky, turn dragons into Randy "Macho Man" Savage, and make the moon look like Nicolas Cage? :D

The real fun happens when you install too many mods and the entire game world basically says "screw it!" and everything becomes a complete disaster. I love chaos.

Yeah, you're not "supposed" to play the game this way, but hey... if the devs let me install mods and other sick-minded individuals design mods to create "The Elder Scrolls - SNAFU Edition" why not?

Yeah, beyond DOOM, Heretic and whatever the STAR WARS one was... not been a fan of FP type games.
Wizardry: Nemesis ventured into this.
Oddly enough, I do love FP dungeon crawls with multiple people to control.
No idea why I am the way I am...
