In spite of constantly being disappointed with Benoit Sokal, I am giving Sinking Island a try. I have yet to get into it.

I think it was fine. Quite entertaining as a story but horrible concerning the interface, which I found extremely uncomfortable.

Speaking of Bioware, I'm part way through Jade Empire for PC. I haven't actually had time to play for a couple months now, but I'm hoping to start playing again soon. Although there isn't much character appearance customisation available, I really enjoy it. It has great voice acting and some refreshing humour. One thing I love about this game is that it takes place outside a great deal and the settings are gorgeous. It's not your usual dungeon crawling adventure (although there are some).

I'm also sporadically playing Guild Wars. Likewise, it takes place outside a great deal (hmm, theme?) and my main character is a ranger with a pet polar bear. :D DPX and I have been playing this mostly together, so until he is able to get his computer up here , it will probably be back on the shelf for now. It's much more fun when you play with someone you know.

We've recently purchased a Wii and have been having a lot of fun with Mario Cart and Super Smash Brothers Brawl. *makes assorted racing and brawling sounds and grins like a maniac* What? It's fun.

Yeah, Mario Kart and Super Smash Bros Brawl are a lot of fun. A plastic wheel comes with Mario Kart as well, so you can place the Wii remote (also called a "Wiimote") into the wheel and drive like you would normally. The Wiimote can be used like this anyway, but some feel the wheel accessory helps. Plus, the wheel gives Nintendo an excuse to charge more for their game.

Aside from Wii games, I'm not really playing anything at the moment. Because of this, Maia's suggested I try System Shock 2 or Deus Ex 2: Invisible War. I've never played SS2, but it sounds good. I gave Maia DX2 (I disliked it and thought she might enjoy it, since she's less picky about control setups), but since it's been patched and a new "textures pack" is now available, the game might just be playable.

I just finished playing Telltale Games' Sam and Max: Season 2. I didn't play Sam and Max Hit the Road when I was little and played it for the first time four years ago and never really got into it, and thus was a tad reluctant to try the new games out, as happy as I was that the franchise had been ressurrected. After hearing a review from a friend who had a similar experience with the original game yet loved the new series, however, I decided to give Season One a try, quickly moving on to Season Two.

To make a long story short, before finding Telltale, most new commercial adventures felt somewhat empty and soulless to me, and no matter how impressive the 3D in them was, I still found myself longing for the 2D adventures of yore. After finding Telltale, however...

...things changed somewhat.

(Not that I don't still love the old adventures, but man, I have never encountered so much undiluted pure awesome in a new adventure game series by such a young company. Put that in your pipe and smoke it, LucasArts!)

That's because most of TellTale Games employees are ex-LucasArts employees. And they brought Steve Purcell (creator of Sam & Max) onboard for the seasons.

Interestingly enough, I saw Sam and Max Season One for sale on the Wii. It's not much (only $19.99) and would probably run quite well on the Wii. The main difference with this console is that it doesn't use the traditional gamepad, but instead relies on wireless remote controls that respond to the player's movement. In short, the Wiimote could easily act as a mouse. You can attach a keyboard to it, as well, but that's an additional accessory.

Indeed. I plan to pick it up even though I already own Season One for PC. Because Tell Tale is just that awesome and I want to support them.

I also have ScummVM on the Wii. Monkey Island with the Wii Remote is schweeeet. Also on my DS as well.

I also have ScummVM on my Wii, but might I ask how for the DS?

How do you put ScummVM on the Wii? I've seen there is a "Wii version" of it available, but how does it download? Can I run it from the SD Card in the Wii or does it have to be on the Wii itself? If it's the latter, I may have to free up some space.

It won't brick it. It's fine. I've done it more than once already. But you don't even need to do it more than once. Use the Twilight Hack to get the Homebrew Channel on it and then you never have to do it again. You can just keep using the Homebrew Channel which, as far as the Wii is concerned, is just like any other Wii channel and won't ruin it. And if you don't want it anymore, just delete the Homebrew Channel.
