Y... okay. Looking good.... is that supposed to be Thor? I never knew Thor's face looked like a dog's.
(BTW, only movies, comic books and Wagner operas have winged helmets. No self-respecting Viking ever wore anything like this - or horned helmets, either!)

Long story short (too late!) Beta Ray Bill was an alien in search of a way to save his people (Korbinites). Came across Thor and knew his hammer would be just what he needed. Odin decided that he would let a combat happen to see who would get the hammer - and rather than surrender the hammer of Thor to Beta Ray Bill, Odin had a new hammer created - Stormbreaker - which you might have remembered from the Thor: Ragnarok movie.

Re: The Tawmis Coloring Book (formerly "Coloring Ka-Zar")
Ah, okay. I had no idea who Beta Ray Bill is, that's all, but I didn't want to leave this post without telling you what an awesome job you've done with colouring him.
As for horned/winged helmets - whoops, forgot that old-school D&D have them too!
By the way, as for that picture of Loki - why is Thor in the river, rather than on his goat-driven chariot? With that, he could smack Loki senseless. Also, it looks like Loki has a tail.... and isn't wearing any pants (or underpants, even)...
(I mean, I know he's a trickster god, but come on - mooning Thor is a really mean prank).

Heh, thank you! To be honest it's very easy to miss the text when there's two large images.Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Wed Nov 28, 2018 5:39 pm Ah, okay. That picture of Odin has been my mental image of Odin ever since.Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Wed Nov 28, 2018 5:39 pm As for horned/winged helmets - whoops, forgot that old-school D&D have them too!
My assumption is, that Loki could run across the lake - and Thor had been chasing him and lacked the ability to run on water. So it's Thor after he's fallen into the lake and Loki just running away happily.Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Wed Nov 28, 2018 5:39 pm By the way, as for that picture of Loki - why is Thor in the river, rather than on his goat-driven chariot? Re: The Tawmis Coloring Book (formerly "Coloring Ka-Zar")
Apparently Joe Q and Mike Manley were doing a “Drink And Draw” (I assume together, otherwise it’s weird that they were both doing and they both did Darkhawk)…
My Darkhawk digital layout from tonight's @Drink_and_Draw. Maybe @urbanbarbarian will ink it if enough people pressure him into it. pic.twitter.com/MvXwC8LwBG

My Darkhawk sketch from last nights Drin and Draw with @urbanbarbarian and the @Drink_and_Draw crew @DannyFingeroth it was a blast pic.twitter.com/LMirC7jTry
— Mike Manley (@TheMonsterman) January 17, 2020
Trying to calm my brain; and digitally coloring (by no means a professional, but fun to do regardless) – the recent #Darkhawk piece done by Manley and colored by me. (Yes, I skipped coloring Powell himself) – Decided to do the Joe Q #Darkhawk coloring too, while I was at it.

Colored this page from Uncanny X-Men.
Brain needed something to focus on, to calm down, and find therapy in coloring. So I took this B&W image and applied some quick coloring to it. Sure, Dinosaurs probably were not purple but let's just think of them as the bloodline of Barney.

Re: The Tawmis Coloring Book (formerly "Coloring Ka-Zar")
Oh no! Ancestors of Barney the Purple Dinosaur - even scarier than the real thing. Those dinosaurs, though, look closer to pink than purple.
Speaking of drawing, yesterday I thought of trying to draw Pinky and the Brain (using just MS Paint). I'm no artist, of course, but I thought of taking an existing drawing of Pinky and the Brain and adding dialogue.
My question is: is this allowed? *worried* Of course I'm aware that P&B are copyright, and I'd never want to do anything to break someone else's copyright or trademark. I know there are plenty of people who create online memes with wild abandon by doing this, but personally, I wouldn't feel comfortable doing that. It'd a pity, though.
So: can there be copyright issues? Or does it fall under "fair use"?
Thanks!

Well, if you're hand drawing it - I don't think there's an issue, unless you try to sell it, maybe? But then artists do commissions (for money) of copyright characters. So probably, as long as you don't claim the characters are yours, or use it to promote your own thing (like putting it on the cover of your own book to sell your book using recognizable characters), might be an issue. But just drawing them? And posting it? I am pretty sure that's fair use.Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Tue Jun 02, 2020 8:20 pm Oh no! Re: The Tawmis Coloring Book (formerly "Coloring Ka-Zar")
Hmm. I don't know how to draw, so I couldn't draw my own. (Rats).
I actually thought of taking this drawing (from this Pinterest webpage) and writing dialogue for it. Just for fun - not for sale, obviously.
I've seen lots of people doing the same and creating memes etc. But if that's copyright infringement (or trademark infringement), then obviously I'd stay far, far away from that!
What do you think?

Again, if you're just adding dialogue - and as long as you're not selling it (since you didn't draw it) or don't claim it as your own drawing, I don't think anyone is going to care.Rath Darkblade wrote: ↑Wed Jun 03, 2020 7:05 am Hmm. I don't know how to draw, so I couldn't draw my own. (Rats).

Re: The Tawmis Coloring Book (formerly "Coloring Ka-Zar")
In the United States, "fair use" is generally limited to parody and educational purposes. Weird Al, for instance, doesn't NEED to get permission before he makes a parody of a song. However, he still asks permission as a courtesy to maintain good relations with other singers/bands/record labels in the music industry.Tawmis wrote: ↑Wed Jun 03, 2020 4:24 amWell, if you're hand drawing it - I don't think there's an issue, unless you try to sell it, maybe? Copyright law gets really, really tricky when you're dealing with multiple countries. Rath, you're in Australia, but Pinky & The Brain is an American IP. So does Australian or American law win out here? It's a messy thing, which is why most IP holders don't bother with litigation unless someone is attempting to make money off their IP or attempt to pass it off as their own work.
We also need to recognize that on the Internet there are millions of drawings of characters (many of which make liberal use of Rule 34) from well-established IPs and nothing is done to remove them. Again, some of this is simply because it'd require different countries/law systems to cooperate, but also because a lawsuit usually gains bad press, costs a lot of money, and draws attention to someone's illegal use of an IP.
My point here is that you're probably okay if you draw Pinky & The Brain and post it in limited places, despite the law not really being on your side in most cases. At absolute worst, you'd receive a "cease and desist" letter but the chances of that occurring are slim-to-none.
