Rath, could you find the dates and times of your deleted posts? I'm just wondering if there's some pattern, like a certain time or day, or a specific number of days between posts, or something.
Tawmis wrote: Sat May 07, 2022 12:20 pm Weird.

Because it seems to solely be impacting you. I haven't noticed anyone else's posts vanishing.
The weirdest part is there's no log of Rath's posts getting deleted. This suggests there might be something wrong with SHP beyond the issue Rath is having, because even if the board was somehow deleting his posts there should still be a record of that deletion.
MusicallyInspired wrote: Sat May 07, 2022 12:51 pm My posts haven't been disappearing, but I'm still constantly logged out randomly. Sometimes immediately after logging in. And when I go to post something it tells me to log in which erases my entire post and I have to press the back button to copy/paste it again. But my posts don't disappear.
I've had similar issues in the past on SHP where I'm randomly logged out and I believe Rath has as well. My posts haven't deleted themselves, however.

Yeah the log out has happened to me - usually when I click to a link to another post.
But for the messages for Rath being deleted... I've checked the logs, both user (to see if Rath, through some weird act, was deleting them), as well as Moderator and Admin logs. Nothing in there indicates anything being deleted that was belonging to Rath.
If there's a database issue, where posts are disappearing because of a corrupt database thing, I'd assume it'd target others - not just Rath. :)
Not that I doubted Rath, but NBS saying he saw Rath's poem - which then later vanished, helps ensure it's not some weird issue that's happening instantly. Like he posted, but cached something weird, wasn't logged in, and didn't actually post or something.

I know nothing about forum administration but I did a little research. This thread mentions something about a "bad real-time" clock causing errors. I noticed something similar here. If you go all the way back in the "Miscellaneous Chatter" forum, there are a bunch of threads that were created in 2018, but were last posted by "Guest" on December 31, 1969 which is why they were kicked to the bottom. I'm wondering if something like this is happening to Rath's posts. If you can search posts by date, maybe you can search for really old ones and these are the posts that are vanishing. Why this would only be affecting Rath I have no idea.

That is interesting. I see the "How the empire strikes back" as guest - and clicking says the topic doesn't exist. But if you search for it, it's here.

There is also a "Guest" post from me, for the Scott Murphy GoFundMe page, which does the same thing, but the post is here.

The posts are gone, so I can't find dates/times there. However, here are the dates and times when I post about them being deleted (at least some of them...)

1. Sun May 08 2022 10:17 am

2. Fri May 06, 2022 11:18 pm

3. Fri May 06, 2022 11:15 pm

Usually I'm on this forum every 10-12 hours. So I think we can assume that they disappeared 10-12 hours prior to these times. :)

 I've never seen that before. But yes, I've no idea why it's only affecting me.

And ... sigh ... while I was writing this post, I was logged out. Luckily I copied this post before posting it - I'll just C&P it back. ;)

You can probably narrow down the time a little more. We have the time I noticed your post vanish a few weeks ago. If you can approximate the time you actually made the post, that narrows the window a bit.

Some of those strange posts were created by Tawmis as well. No idea if this has anything to do with what you are experiencing.

Oh, gawd. I wrote a reply to you, NBS, at between 8am and 8:30am this morning - and now it's disappeared. :x This is beyond ridiculous.

My time is 17 hours ahead of CA time (CA is where the forum is hosted, I guess). So, 8-8:30am this morning (my time) would've been 15:00-15:30 yesterday, or 3:00pm to 3:30pm yesterday ... and yesterday for me would've been 9 May.

Now we've narrowed things significantly. We can look at 9 May, between 3pm and 3:30pm (CA time). Huzzah! :D

Actually, unless Collector has changed providers, its hosted by Arvixe, which I do not think is in California.

Okay, but ignoring the fact this is simply correlation at the moment, we still need to answer WHY. There's no discernible reason for this to be happening and only to you, Rath. If the time frame were the complete explanation (such as some server issue was occurring at that time) then it'd still likely affect others in some fashion or another.

Well, I looked up Arvixe and they were founded in San Luis Obispo, California, but according to their website'a "contact us" page they're currently located in Austin, Texas... or at least whoever you contact is there. It's not uncommon for companies to hire out CSRs from other places (including completely different countries, which explains the abundance of CSRs from India who pretend to be western by using a North American or European name, but clearly have an Indian accent), so this might not still be their physical location.

Oh, if anyone discusses OBI WAN on Disney - please use Spoilers.

Anyone watching Star Trek Strange New Worlds?
Watching it because of who plays Pike (Anson Mount) - who I enjoyed from Hell on Wheels (probably my second favorite show, just behind Vikings).
Watched the first episode, and really enjoyed it. And I am not normally a "Trek Person."

Agreed. I love this.

I'm really enjoying Strange New Worlds. It's nice to get back to basics with an episodic format. No having to wade through the entire season only to find out the conclusion to the arc was lame and rendering the whole season a waste of time. Episodes stand on their own merits, good or bad and then you can move on to the next one.

I remember Mount from the so-bad-it's-(almost)-good Marvel Inhumans series. Hard to judge his acting there since he played Black Bolt and didn't speak.

Overall I think he makes a good Pike, in this and his time on Discovery. Since the original had only one appearance, it's not like we have much to compare him to.

Yeah - the Inhumans was unfortunate.

Watch Hell on Wheels. Trust me. Three seasons. Third season is a little weak.

But the first season?

-chef's kiss-

Pure effing gold. :)

Caught up on Strange New Worlds, and I freaking love this show.

And caught up on Obi Wan, and I'll just say they're doing it right.
