Am I misremembering? I totally thought those "orcs" or whatever you want to call them that stand outside the door - come inside the room at some point?

I wasn't sure what to think of that, to be honest, because it "railroads" you to the ending. But on the other hand, if you decide not to travel by night, you'll never finish the game, and you'll just wander around in circles and think "I wonder when this ends..."
