OK, sure. Thanks, DPX. :)

Since I can't draw, I wouldn't use "Rule 34" (although, of course, I realise what it means). All I'm doing is writing dialogue which I hope is both amusing and true to the characters. :)

If I get a C&D, of course I'll comply by it. But I fully agree with Weird Al's approach:

1, If I want to use something from the internet (e.g. a drawing, a painting, a piece of music etc.) AND
2. I know who created it, AND
3. I can get a permission from the artist ...

Then I write them a polite note to request using it. If they say no, that's fine. If they say yes, even better. ;)

Wasn’t happy with how light it was, so I touched it up, darkened it, brightened up some of the colors, and am much happier now.

Using the light/dark trick is much, much, much more difficult on Marvel black and white images, because the artist tends to overly shade everything – making it a very cluttered picture to try and do the light/dark trick. But I think – while on Wolverine, it was messy – it actually looks nice in the Brood/Sleazoids and the background.

Compared to how it would have looked without the light/dark shading...

Snakes alive, Batman! How will Wolverine get out of that one?!? ;)

He certainly looks to be in danger. What on earth is that snake thing - or the creepy fly-looking thing on the left?

Nice job, Tawm. :)

They're known as The Brood. They're basically Marvel's knock off of Aliens.

This image is from Uncanny X-Men #161 (end) to 168. It's an utterly fantastic story.

Didn’t care for how this one turned out, but whatever. Keep learning. #UncannyXMen #XMen #Wolverine #Rogue #Storm #UncannyXMen158 #UXM158

Another time coloring; did this one in just under two hours. Just trying to get faster and doing things and not over think things. Didn’t turn out too bad, considering the original B&W image I had to work off of.

Very nice indeed. I like them both. :)

I'm just wondering, though -- there was a time when comics cost 60 cents??? Nowadays, they cost $7 apiece ... dratted inflation. :x :P

Comics originally started at like a dime.

Ah - here we go - special thanks to Comichron.

The Black Knight in Marvel has had a number of costumes; sadly, this one - which is by far my favorite - was probably the shortest lived (I love the helmet) - an artist posted his B&W drawing and I decided to color it (mind you, I am no expert - I just do it for fun - because it helps sooth my brain - which is in need of much soothing of late).

Good job. :) The shine on the sword tip is nice - you'd expect it to go "ting!" ;)

Hmm ... this costume makes him look a bit like a pretend-medieval knight. :P He has the costume, sure, but no armour under it. If he was in combat against a real knight ... but we won't go into that. ;)

The helmet is, hmm ... problematic. There are very few real-life winged-helmets that were actually used in combat; there was always a risk that someone might use a lasso (yes, they were used in combat situations sometimes) to snag one of the wings, pull the rope tight, and thus pull you down off your horse. If the wings on the helmet were large (for instance, the big-horn helmet that Teutonic knights are supposed to have worn), the risk would be much higher. Once a knight is pulled down off his horse, he can easily be finished off with one strong spear-thrust - or held for ransom.

That's not to say that warriors didn't wear horned/winged helmets. This helmet, dating to the third century BC, was found in a grave in Romania. It has a high-mounted crest formed as a bird, possibly an eagle or a raven, with large wings spread out to either side. The crest is very clever; the wings were articulated at the body so that they would have flapped up and down as the wearer moved. :) But most helmets didn't have decorations like this, unless they were made purely for parades and things like that - not for combat.

That said, there are a few medieval illustrations of knights wearing outrageous decorations on their helmets -- probably for jousts. I found one of a knight wearing a pink mermaid on top of his helmet. Here is one with a fire-breathing dragon, and others with an eagle or (bizarrely) two fish.

Of course, in fiction, you can be as inventive as you like. :) Winged/horned helmets are typically used to portray the Vikings (although real Vikings hardly ever wore them - blame Wagner). ;) And, of course, Asterix wears one all the time. :)

Yeah - to be clear, I just did the color - not the actual art. So the artist had that shine. So I tried to show it was there too in the color.

He's got armor on. That's what the silvery arms/legs are. That's - what I assume - is scalemale or the like.

Aye, THOR in the COMICS (Marvel) wears a winged helm also.

Does he? His arms and legs look bare to me. *shrug* Oh well. I thought he looked blue because he was cold.

Speaking of winged helmets (and Asterix) -- this is badass. Asterix and Obelix against the Romans - in real life! :D

 I see they've given Captain America a winged helmet too - a slightly more subtle one.

Who are these characters? I recognise Captain America (blue helmet, on far left) and Thor (blond hair, on far right).
