(Meaning ONLY Windows and not released on Windows and XBOX, or Windows and Atari, etc, so this would also include not on DOS, even though that's a PC and may have used Windows 3.11 or something - I am looking where it only says "Microsoft Windows" under PLATFORM)
No, this game does NOT run natively on any Windows OS. Unfortunately, there's no hint I can give you at this point that won't entirely give it away (and I have a feeling you won't have a difficult time narrowing it down now anyway).

Doesn't run natively on any Windows OS can mean it runs on ATARI.

But I am going to guess SEAL Team.

True, it could've meant an Atari computer, but I looked at that list and there were around 12 games that didn't run at least some version on a Windows OS, so I figured you'd get it in two or three tries at most and you ended up figuring it out in one shot!

That said... you're right, it's SEAL Team!

SEAL Team was hardcore, so much so that it wasn't even all that fun. Interesting to play, but not what I'd necessarily call an enjoyable way to pass the time. I tried playing it again recently as well and the controls were so bad I couldn't stand it. Unfortunately, SEAL Team is from a time when controls hadn't yet become standardized, so every game did whatever it wanted. I don't miss those days.

Anyway, it's your turn, Tawmis!

The team that you lead - is it regular infantry, or marines, or air force (fighters or helicopters)?
None of the above. The highly specialized group you're a part of in this game exists in real life and is under the command of a real branch of the United States military, but I can't say more without completely giving away the answer. :)
Hmm. Are you referring to the U.S. Navy SEALs, by any strange coincidence?

***EDIT*** Whoops! I just realised Tawm guessed it. But it looks like I was on the right track, too. Darn it! ;)

I remember a console game, that was a fighting game - but it was also released on arcade. It featured 11 characters - ranging from an assassin, a ninja, a princess, a viking, a samurai, a sorceress, to name some.
I remember there was a cheat code you could do that would replace a blind fighter with a janitor.

*thinks* Hmm. Is it Mace: The Dark Age?

(Never played it, but my google-fu is improving)

Holy snarks!

What was it that so quickly gave it away?

Was it the janitor clue? :D

But yes, you are correct and...

Woohoo! :D Yep, it was the janitor. I just googled "fighting game assassin ninja princess janitor", and got the wrong result. So I took words away from the google search until I found "Mace: The Dark Age" on wikipedia. :)

I remember a console fighting game where you were fighting for a second chance in life. Among others, you could play a gangster, an acrobat, or a baseball-playing caveman.

Don't even need to google.

I am pretty sure this is ETERNAL CHAMPIONS.

Yeah, that's got to be it. I remember Eternal Champions was the reason I bought a new Genesis controller that had six buttons instead of the normal three.

I was never very good at ETERNAL CHAMPIONS, but I still loved the heck out of that game.
It's fairly fresh on my mind, because I'd just made a post about it just a few months ago and how it even, apparently, had a sequel on the SEGA CD.

Correct! :) I'd never played this game (or owned a console), so it's entirely new to me. I just watched a gameplay video of it on YouTube.

At the time of release, Eternal Champions was one of the more successful faux-MK fighter games, maybe because it had good elements of MK: stage fatalities, a basic mythology, and memorable (enough) characters.

It mixed Street Fighter and Mortal Kombat, a strange combination. But it didn't have buckets of blood.

It was, however, very difficult to beat (or so my basic preliminary research told me!) ;)

All right -
Let's keep with the theme...

I remember playing a fighting game on console... But the whole reason I'd gotten it was because it was out on arcade first.
The game was designed by a former Capcom employee who was definitely connected to the whole Street Fighter franchise.
There were two brothers who were the "main" characters of this game.
However, there was a third character. This is the character I typically played.

Unlike other games that compared against Mortal Kombat, this first game (and all the others in this series - there was about a total of 11 games from this franchise!) was geared towards competing against Street Fighter.

Hmm, I googled "Street Fighter knock offs" and came across a few (un)likely candidates. *shrug*

Could it be ... "Breakers"? *crosses fingers* ;)
