I probably shouldn't laugh at the message, but... BWAHAHAHA!

Re: If Aquaman were real...
I don't understand it
I don't know if it's because I don't know anything about Aquaman or because the symbol on the cover means nothing to me...
Sigh...

Re: If Aquaman were real...
BP is short for British Petroleum, a major oil and gas company that works all over the world.
The idea behind that image is that oil disasters (usually caused by carelessness or poor foresight) often affect fish and animals, killing many of them. Aquaman is simply used here in place of birds or fish or whatever.

Re: If Aquaman were real...
Have you not heard of the BP Oil Spill?AndreaDraco wrote:I don't understand it

The company BP, in short, had an oil thing in the Gulf of Mexico that exploded and resulted in an oil spill that is now infinitely worse that the Exxon Valdez Oil Spill from MANY years ago. Exxon Valdez is said to have spilled 37,000 tons of oil into the water. BP's oil spill is said to be at 139,100 TONS and still going. It has DEVASTATED wild life in the Gulf of Mexico and will have rippling effects on the eco system for MANY years to come. The logo on Aquaman's body is the BP logo.
That said, Aquaman is a comic book hero (DC Universe, for specifics) whose sole power is to talk to aquatic life (among breathing underwater, super strength, super swim speed, etc). Most of Aquaman's comic book takes place in the oceans, fighting aquatic based villains. And thus, it's implying that the BP Oil Spill would have been the death of Aquaman.

Re: If Aquaman were real...
I knew all about the BP oil spill (and still remember the Exxon Valdez spill from many years ago), and I have -heard- of Aquaman - though I never knew what his powers are... *blush* I only know of him from "The Simpsons", specifically this:
BTW, is the weeping woman relevant to the story of Aquaman? *curious*
Still, the graphic is well-made and very reminiscent of the DC comics! I particularly like the price... *grin* What ELSE can you get for 12 cents these days? The Simpsons wrote:Comic Book Guy: (strolls down street) "But Aquaman, you cannot marry a woman with gills! You're from two different worlds!" (looks up as ICBM flies right at him) Oh, I wasted my life. (cue mushroom cloud)

Well it's a photoshopped cover of the original Aquaman #45.Rath Darkblade wrote: Still, the graphic is well-made and very reminiscent of the DC comics! I particularly like the price... *grin* What ELSE can you get for 12 cents these days?

Re: If Aquaman were real...
It's really sad the damage it has done to the wildlife of the shores. Here's a photo from MSN's Week in Pictures showing the oil crashing on the shore of Orange Beach, Ala. This is right next to Gulf Shores where we went last year to the beach. So sad.
