Copy the ROM files and the installer into the same folder and run MuntSetup.exe. Once installed,
- Change the default MIDI device on your system to "MT-32 Synth Emulator" from the Sound applet in the Control Panel in XP. If you have Vista or Win7 it will also install Putzlowitschs Vista MIDIMapper to allow you to change your default MIDI device to "MT-32 Synth Emulator". You will find it in your Control Panel (on Vista64 it will be in the 32-bit Control Panel).
- Run the game's INSTALL.EXE to select MT-32 for the game's sound driver or manually edit the game's RESOURCE.CFG to:
Code: Select all
soundDrv = MT32.DRV
Setting the default MIDI device on your system to "MT-32 Synth Emulator" will allow the driver it will work with anything in Windows. To set only DOSBox to use Munt, set the system default device to what you want and start DOSBox. At DOSBox's prompt enter:
Code: Select all
mixer /listmidi
you use to start the game.
Code: Select all
[midi]
midiconfig={number}
You owe it to your self to hear the way Sierra designed the fantastic music of our beloved games. Another great thing about Munt is that you can have the great sound of Sierra MT-32 music on your laptop without lugging any other hardware around with you. Tawm has been rediscovering these games with the music they were meant to have. I'll leave it to him to give his reaction.
