I'm one of those people, who still loves a game that's nearing 13 years of age. I bought a copy of Front Page Sports Baseball Pro '98 because my old computer only had the original files on it. I wanted to see if I could get it to work on Windows 7, mainly because the old computer is a 350 that does a better job at collecting dust.
I downloaded the patch from http://sierrahelp.com/Patches-Updates/N ... l#FPSBBP98 and used it to install. The game loaded up and I was able to play an exhibition match, although the crowd noise went in an out. As fun as that was, I'm in it for the simulation and the stats because, well, this game was great at that.
It simulated about half a game on the preset functions before crashing. I tried again with it on "fast simulate" and still didn't work. Then, I played with compatibility modes as much as possible. Still didn't work. What it usually does is processes the game lineups and then stalls.
I was fed a couple of errors lines here and there, but usually it just stopped working.
1st Error - Initialization Error: unable to register class program
2nd Error - blah: Glue Error: 2 (then) Wrong Start (then) File.\Bbshell\Stuff\Shell.cppLine:704
I know there was no guarantee that the patch would work, but I was just wondering if anyone had any ideas around this.

I didn't do any kind of extensive testing of the game, only enough that the game could be started. I am not that familiar with the game nor its engine, so I am not sure how much I'll be able to do about it, but see if the patch helps

Thanks for the suggestion, but I already tried that. I think it's something to do with the programming.

Well it looks like it doesn't even really work on XP ... and I dunno if Win 7 64bit has a Win95 Compt Mode?

Looks like I'll have to pull the installer from the downloads.

Use this kids video for VM Ware workstation it works. https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=KV8jm0oqZfI
Watch entire video he gets the sound and 32 colors or 256 colors for Windows 98 to work. Only thing is VM Ware
workstation is only a trial so I may have to dip in and spend a little money to play. But it works.
